Our Lady of Fandom, Sunday all day

As usual Gabriel put up the note on the church door. Considering his conversation with that boy Romeo the other day someone might actually stop by.

Do it yourself Sunday service

Yesterday had been quiet, the Cat had been away on cat business and he had spent most of the day sleeping or reading a trashy romance novel that he had found in a cupboard. Hence he was oblivious to anything strange going on on the island. Not that he would be surprised by anything this place would be able to produce.

[The church is open]

Like a good Christian boy from a time with fears of witches and inquisitions and so on and so forth, Peter came into the church early on Sunday morning to pray. He prayed for his aunt and uncle (still in James' kingdom), for a swift return to his own time, and for seeing a lot of what the future has to offer before the swift return to his own time.

Peter eventually got that weird feeling that someone was watching hi, so he turned around and spotted Gabriel. In an appropriately hushed tone, he said, "Good morning."

"I'm not a large person, so it would have to be a small building," Peter joked. "Um. How did you know my name, sir?"

Peter had no clue what that all was about, so he went back to his prayers, trusting that the Lord would alert him to danger if this strange man went crazy and attacked him.

"I believe He does," Peter said. "Why do you ask, sir?"

"Sir?" Peter asked, a little louder. "Are you a religious man yourself?"

"No, sir, I didn't. Is that customary in this time?" Peter asked.

Very tentatively, Mary entered the church, giving a slight glance around. She wasn't exactly sure what it was she planned to do; all she knew was that she had to do something. She slid into a pew near the back and ducked her head, closing her eyes at her folded hands.

Dear Jesus...

She had trouble getting past that part.

Mary took in a deep breath, looking up to turn worried eyes toward the man. She didn't like the way her chest lurched when he said that. "W.why....what do you mean?"

Mary lowered her head thoughtfully, pausing for a great, long moment before answering. "Well," she reasoned, "it's supposed to be a two way thing. So, if he isn't, it's because I wasn't listening," properly, "first..."

Mary bit her lip slightly. "I thought he did, in a vision I had, but...I think I got the message wrong."

She swallow, hands over her stomach. Way wrong.

Frowning deeply at the implication (she was pretty sure he didn't realize what he was implying), Mary shook her head. "No. That's not it. The message was pretty clear, I just....messed up."
