Anyone looking for Yitzhak today might have to peer behind the counter -- where he was huddled, a towel over his head to cover the fact that the stray cat who lived in the alley behind the diner and usually was shamelessly affectionate as a way of getting food had jumped off the dumpster and clawed his face today.

There was no specials board today -- this kind of indignity completely precluded specials -- but the Help Wanted sign was still up in the window.

Despite callous feline lack of regard for human standards of appearance, Luke's is open.
