Talk to mopey George.

Sky decided to stop by to visit Mr. Manager and tell him how his first few days had gone, but was surprised to see him so mopey.

"Good morning, Mr. Manager," he said. "How are you?"

"Sky, good morning," George Michael said as he looked up from his... mopiness. "I'm fine. Great. I'm good. You're doing a great job." He chuckled in that nervous sort of way of his, though he wasn't really nervous.

"Thank you, sir," said Sky, grinning. "I'm happy to hear that. And I did wear the banana suit... with pride... just like you told me to. Everybody I've served has left happy, too. My only problem has been the bird." He glared daggers at Eddie ~~wherever the seagull was perched today~~. "He's growing bolder and keeps trying to steal from me or the customers."

George Michael glared at Eddie. "He steals from you, Sky, it's like stealing from me. I can't have that. Supply and demand... demand it." He reached under the counter and produced a sling-shot. "This is here for your use. Use it if you need to. Eddie likes... pain, it would seem." George Michael nodded and slid it back under the counter. He's never been able to hit the bird himself but he's had plenty of dreams and those so counted.

"The suit can smell after only one day. Are you using lysol?"

Sky's eyed widened as he saw the sling-shot, but then he remembered he'd threatened Eddie with a broomstick the previous day. He figured maybe if he shot banana slices or other soft things, he wouldn't hurt him too much.

"I sure will use it, then, sir. I don't want him stealing from us either, and I'm a pretty good shot. And yes, I've been keeping the suit clean; I couldn't bear to wear it otherwise." I can barely stand to wear it when it is clean, he added silently.

George Michael couldn't stand to wear the suit himself. He was very glad he hired somebody like Sky who took his employment so seriously. That suit, well, it stank. Even when it was clean. Who wanted to wear a rubber banana?

"I was considering, perhaps a day after classes next week, you wouldn't mind standing on a street corner and hand out flyers to passing citizens? It would sure boost our business. Of course you'll do this in between the days you work. Ten percent off each banana purchase. How does that sound?"

"Of course I'll do it," said Sky, secretly regretting the fact that he was so serious about his employment. He hoped this task wouldn't entail wearing The Suit, or else he'd seriously consider an employment change. "I have class early in the day on Wednesday and Thursday, and of course I'm here Monday and Friday, but I'm free otherwise."

George Michael stared at Sky, seemingly to consider something as he placed his hand on his chin, thinking in a seriously think-y way. "Maybe you could make posters and hang them up at school."

"I'd be willing to do that, too," said Sky. Pleeeease don't ask me to wear that dumb suit. PLEASE.

"You, uh, wouldn't want to wear the suit while you do that, uh, would you? Because that would be so awesome."

Sky bit his lip to stop an immediate refusal. He swallowed hard and said, "Around town, you mean? ... ... Yes, sure."

"Around town, at school," he was grinning now, imagining the cash flow. "I bet you would get a lot of attention at school in the banana suit."

"I get lots of attention already in the stand by wearing it," said Sky, internally making the boo boo lip, but outwardly keeping his expression neutral. "But... if you want me to wear it elsewhere..."

"...are you complaining, Sky?" George Michael asked, wondering.

"No, no, of course not!" said Sky quickly. "This is my job after all, and you are my boss."

He smiled. "I'm just kidding. I wanted to try the whole stern thing," he chuckled. "I'm glad it worked. It would be beneficial to wear the suit then."

"Oh... OK," said Sky, relieved that he hadn't ticked his boss off. "...I ah, I'll get to work on making those flyers, then. And next week I'll start distributing them."

"Good for you. Way to get a jump start on it, Sky," he said, then asked. "By the way, you're not handing out free goods are you? To your friends?"

"Uh... I've only done it twice," said Sky, bracing himself to get admonished. Mr. Manager hadn't said no... "Was- was I not supposed to? I did have plenty of paying customers besides..."

"I wouldn't make a habit out of it; once anyone thinks they can get a free banana, next thing you know they are going to want the nuts for free too and there goes bananas and nuts and you end up short in the register no matter how many paying customers you have. Let's not ever jilt ourselves, Sky."

"Yes, Mr. Manager. I... I apologize for my oversight. I wouldn't give away free nuts, though, I assure you- nuts are always extra."

"No worries," he went to clasp a hand to Sky's shoulder. "Just trying to keep up with the competition." Though there wasn't any. "Ten cents extra. Nuts. Nuts are not cheap you know, when you buy them in bulk. And everyone wants nuts. Almost every single time."

"Of course," said Sky. "And yes, you told me nuts are always extra when you hired me. Seemed important, so it stuck in my mind."

"Right," he nodded. "Okay then. Did you want anything while stopping by today?"

"Sure," said Sky, figuring he'd try and make up for the freebies, and pulled $2.50 out of his pocket "I'll take a large original before I leave, please."

"Coming right up," he smiled and fixed Sky's banana, handing it over with plenty of napkins. "Employee's don't have to pay, Sky; keep your money. I know what it is like trying to earn and save money at your age." Said George Michael who was only nineteen. But hey, he's been working the banana stand since he was 13.

Sky accepted the banana, feeling a lot better about the giveaways now.

"I'll accept it with my thanks, then, Mr. Manager. I'll stop by later in the week once I get a flyer made up."

"Great, Sky. See you then," he said, tucking his hands in his front pants pockets.

But it's okay if you don't like it. Just throw it to the birds. Woe.

Think I'll have a pop-tart, yes.

Poor Sky. &hearts I considered having him go down to one day a week here and sending him to get a job from Tom at Pizza Planet, but this is SO MUCH MORE FUN. Plus if I gave him a job with Tom, he'd end up dressing up as a pizza slice instead of a banana. I don't think he could handle the humiliation.

That and I'd have a conversation with myself, which would be awkwardsauce.

*giggles* I have conversations with myself all the time. I, sometimes, highly amuse myself. :D

And two days a week might be a bit much for Sky here. You want to knock him back to one, I am A-okay with that!

Oh, good, that's good to know. :D Now that I have Tom to play too, knocking Sky back to one day a week here would be great- probably Friday.

Fandom is addictive, yes! :D Don't want to overwhelm yourself ~~like I have~~ so yeah, one day! Yay!

We'll have him work on Fridays only, then, if that's OK- Tom doesn't have an employee for Mondays yet.

Someone will come around; lot's of jobless kids still, I think.

*huggles* :D Oh yes, there are still employees around; Tom got an enthusiastic response today. Though granted, not many of the students will be willing to wear the banana suit, I think. *g*

It's also good that we're holding off on him handing out flyers and such, because Sky's going to get the call this afternoon that his ~~husband~~ BFF Dru has "died". So he's not going to feel up to doing much of anything til next week. My poor, poor woobie.

Oh no, woe.

Yus. D: ~~Luckily he's going to have comfort snuggles afterwards.~~

Mary would be amused if she knew George Michael was going through her lingerie drawer since there's probably some lovely new pieces he hasn't seen yet.

And at some point, it's likely that the girls will drag her to see "Thunder From Down Under" so she might not be too upset over any strip club shenanigans.

Hee! He would never confess to it! The lingerie or the strip club!
