Michael was a tiny bit late in opening Luke's today, but pretending he hadn't been.


Specials:

Kofta nakhod (meatballs and chickpeas)

Artichoke squares with tabasco and cheddar cheese

Five cheese pizza (in honour of the new opening)

Chili con carrot

Chicken pilau

Luke's was open.

Sometime in the afternoon, there was a scratching at the diner's back door.

Naturally enough, Michael went to see who or what was out there. He was carrying a frying pan in case of gremlins, but only loose in his hand.

There was a small, smelly, fleabitten dog, looking very pathetic. And also looking very sad that the frying pan was empty. "Bark bark whine?"

"...oh. Hey, you." He peered down at the dog. "Didn't know we had any strays here. Hungry, right?"

The dog rolled its eyes and nodded. "Woof whine?"

It sat down, thumped its stubby tail, and looked up at Michael expectantly.
