Liir made his way in, freshened up the front of the store with a few sweeps of the duster, and set up the cookies and tea for the customers.

Yes, it did go rather fast as he was in a very good mood and as such, no task was even the least bit arduous.

Following the usual morning ritual, he did a quick inspection of the store, neatened up a few areas so that Millie wouldn't have to, and finally found himself with a book from the bin at the back which he would be 'evaluating' for Millie today.

Mmm...The Concise Economic History of the World from Paleolithic Times to the Present. This should be fun.

The Book Haven is open.

He was at the front, poring over the text spread carefully before him on counter. He did, however, look up every few minutes to see if any customers might need assistance.

Michael had wandered in, not looking for anything in particular, just there to see what he might pick up.

"There's cookies, over by the tea," he pointed out as he looked up from his own reading.

He wasn't really surprised to see Michael. That was on his face rather clearly.

"Very well," he said. "I should have thought to bring you some of the chicken from last night."

Michael blinked. "There was chicken?"

"Ah, I didn't smell it or I'd've come down. My door was shut", he offered by way of explanation.

He shrugged.

"I divided it up already and delivered it to a few friends," he said with a faint smile, "or I'd offer you what was left over. I'm not used to cooking for two. Especially not with that dish."

"You said, you cooked for everyone back home."

He nodded.

"Exactly. The monkeys didn't eat too much, each one, but there were enough of them."

"Flying monkeys," he said. "That could parrot sounds. Sort of talk, really, in the broadest sense. The Witch was raising them, attempting to make Animal from animal. That's all."

"She had a purpose, though I never quite understood the wings," he admitted. "It was what she did, though."
