Trooper Station - Friday

Roy tapped his pen impatiently on the desk. The troopers' patrols had been upped for this whole MercCon thing, but it still didn't sit all too well. Maybe if he knew exactly who was coming. Mercenaries weren't his most liked population group and whatever disclaimers came with this convention, one could never be too careful.

So Roy was scanning through everything again, making sure there wasn't anything he was overlooking while he obstinately ignored the date on his calender and anything that wasn't mercenary related.

That whole ignoring plan might have been why the phone was ringing just then.

"How do you do, sir," Riza said, a small smile apparent only in her eyes.

"All's well here, sir," she said quietly. "I was hoping not to reach you working through."

She knew he'd be working. But she'd still hoped.

"A mercenary convention," Hawkeye repeated in a tone that would be incredulous for anyone else. "Quite a town you have there, sir."

There was a long pause. "I'm sorry?"

Riza wanted to comment that it sounded like he was drinking too much of it but that was never her place. "I'll have more sent. You became a homunculi?"

"Sir," she reprimanded, trying to bring him back on track.

"There are mercenaries all over the island."

Kerrigan didn't quite appear out of nowhere, but managed something approaching it.

"You've got the troopers on it." It wasn't a question. With the knowledge now suddenly firmly in mind, Kerrigan flopped down on a chair, rubbing at her forehead. "I'm going to keep an eye out."

"They're worse than resocs," Kerrigan muttered, leaning back in the chair. "It's an accident waiting to happen."

"Might make me feel better," Kerrigan muttered.

Kerrigan shrugged. "She let the mercs in."

"I'm on it," Kerrigan said, shifting up to alert a little.
