So, there they were. The rescheduling of the date that was actually even confirmed as a date and not just something hanging there in ambiguity. A.J. even held the door open for Beauty as they arrived at Fast Eddie's, although he probably would have done something like that, anyway. "So what do you think?" he asked her as they moved in. "Bowling, video games, or something to eat first?"

"Uhhh," A.J. grinned at the enthusiasm; damn, she was cute... "Just wait a second...Oh! See!" A little one showed up in one of the boxes, changing the series of 0 on the screen above the lane. "It does it automatically."

That got another big smile from Beauty, because it meant she didn't have to figure out how to properly use the mechanical thing. She would of course, if necessary, but this way it was one less thing to worry about during the date.

"Try and get two this time!" she called out encouragingly.

"Two!" A.J. gawked incredulously as he picked up his ball again; he shook his head with an exaggerated huff. "So demanding!"

He did, however, thanks to trying to aim for the other side, manage to nick a few pins near the one he had previously knocked over, getting down three, for a whopping grand total of four.

"Let's see you beat that, huh?"

"Hurray!" Beauty applauded again, and rewarded A.J. with a tight hug before going to trade places with him. "I haven't even got one yet, how do you expect me to give five?"

She grinned at him from the head of the alley, and then took probably way longer than necessary studying the pins.

Or maybe not, since this time the ball, although wobbly and slow, managed to roll gently into a pair of pins at the corner before finally falling over into the gutter. "TWO!" Beauty hollered, jumping up and down happily.

It was impossible not to chuckle at the excitement. He let out a happy cheer. "Whoooo. Good one! Just three more to go on the second try, right?"

"You're so hard to please," Beauty groused, shooting A.J. a mock frown as she went to get the ball from the return. She was so excited about actually knocking a couple of pins over, that she was practically bouncing on her toes.

Which translated to the ball making a curious weaving path down the alley and then flopping nicely into the gutter about halfway down.

Beauty covered her face with her hands and laughed.

"Ohhhhh," A.J.'s chuckling was attempting to sound sympathetic. Attempting. "So clo--"

"Err, okay, not close at all," he admitted. "But...two!"

"Two is a good start?" Beauty came over and flopped down next to A.J. "I don't mind losing to you," she said, leaning her head against his shoulder.

"Good," A.J. said, not in any rush to get up for his turn with Beauty sitting there; he tilted his head a little against hers. "Because I'd probably in trouble if you did."

"You'd be in a lot of trouble," Beauty teased, grinning a little as she reached for his hand and squeezed it. "I might even cheat."

"Cheat?" A.J. asked, squeezing Beauty's hand back. He grinned, blushing shyly, as he thought about lifting her hand to give it a kiss and, of course, chickened out, so squeezing would have to do. "How would you cheat?"

"I'm...not quite sure," Beauty admitted. "I think I'd have to know a little bit more about the game first. You could give me another demonstration to help me figure it out."

Or they could just sit there and lean against each other and hold hands. That was nice too.

"I think I could do that," A.J. said, agreeable, squeezing her hand again. He leaned in for a quick forehead kiss before getting up. "Watch carefully, and you'll be straight on your way to cheating and beating me unfairly in no time."
