They hadn't managed to go out as planned yesterday because the muns had timezone issues, and Makoto felt slightly guilty about having had asked Tom to cover for his shift only to have not done anything. He'd apologize on Sunday.

Either way though, he was pleasantly surprised when Zuko showed up at his room after lunch with the intent of taking him out and walking around town. The rain though, made them reconsider, and they headed for J,GOB instead.

"We'll have to explore some other day, I guess." Makoto said as they entered the shop.

Zuko wondered if having your sister charge in with her own private Dai Li forces counted. "I don't think so?"

"So, then, what'd be the point in planning military actions here?"

"You don't think have control over a place that links different universes together would be of strategic value?" Zuko asked before he took a bite out of his scone.

Makoto blinked. "I've never had to think of things like that before. Home's not like that. But I guess that makes sense..."

Zuko nodded. "It's better if you don't have a reason to have to think like that."

"I should probably think about it at least a little if there's a chance of it happening here though." Makoto nibbled on his pastry. "It'd be careless not to."

"Most of the things invading tend to be dumb anyway," Zuko replied. "Except those trolls, they seemed to have some sort of plan."

"... what sort of plan?" He wondered.

"I don't know," Zuko frowned. "They kidnapped a few people."

"Everyone got back safely right?"

He nodded. "Yes. It's not an easy island to just invade."

He laughed. "Guess they can't mention that in the brochure's though. It'd make people wonder how often invasions happen."

"Do you think you wouldn't have been sent here if your parents had known about it?" Zuko asked curiously.

Makoto shrugged, glancing off to one side. "The only reason I'm here already is because Akane did a lot of fast talking to convince my father. He's still not happy about it. Invasions would've made it impossible."

"Why did you want to come here then?" Zuko couldn't help but wonder.

"To get away from my father." Wasn't that obvious? "And I was switching schools anyway, so I picked one I wanted. This one seemed good."

"I don't think a whole lot of people want to actually come here," Zuko mused.

"Did you?" Makoto asked, sipping his hot chocolate.

"No," Zuko said simply and distracted himself by sipping from his cocoa.
