"Reno of the Turks. Plenty of experience. Gonna explain it in the discussion, because that's what discussion's for, yo."

It was possible that Reno was slightly more subdued today than he had been yesterday. Why?

"You wanna watch a well-oiled unit fall apart, watch as someone that all the members respect decides he's got more important things to do than stick around," Reno said, his tone terse. "It's damn good fun, seein' 'em all scurry all over themselves in a clusterfuck, refusing to do what has to get done because the guy knows too much. So they all trip all over one another. And the whole world wants them dead, because of one guy they wouldn't kill. Because sometimes, you step into something, and the only way out is supposed to be in a body bag."

Reno stood up for a moment. He fully intended to leave it there. Just walk off the stage. Get the hell out of dodge.

He sat down again.

"Thing is, tryin' to leave might not get you out alive. And you might take everyone who ever respected you out on your way, like it or not. But if you don't earn respect while you're in the business in the first place, then you won't even have those people who didn't want to kill you on your side. And then who out there is gonna help you fake your own death with a gun loaded with rubber bullets?"

Reno drew in a slow breath and scowled.

"That said, your best bet for gettin' out is to be dead, yo. Only way that's gonna keep you out of the business for certain."

Reno was here to be asked questions. And he was scowling at all of you.
raspberryturk: (Hmm.)

Reno was standing around, hands shoved into his pockets, waiting to be chatted up, shmoozed at, or chilled with.

He had one requirement for any of the above. Someone had better bring him a damn drink.

"I'm Richard St. Vier, and I'm actually in the process of considering retirement for...personal reasons."

"I actually assumed starting out I'd be dead by twenty-five," Richard said. "That didn't happen. Unfortunately, it's recently become impossible for me to continue as a swordsman. My reputation is making it difficult more than anything; if I simply retire there will still be young bravos looking to kill me to make their reputation. I'll never have a moment's peace. I'm thinking of disappearing--just go somewhere no one knows me and let the rumor mill at home do the rest. My lover's not happy about that, though. He's a noble, he can't just leave."

Richard had been thinking about this a lot since he'd first started losing his central vision; it felt startlingly good to actually say all of it.

Richard was also here to be asked questions. He seemed much more pleasant than Reno.

Richard was standing in a corner, apparently staring at nothing.
