Leon was sharing his podium with his plant. And the toolbox.

"Blend is important." He walked in front of the podium, wearing his knit hat, overcoat, highwater plants, and sensible no-slip shoes. He looked inconspicuous, as if he were a low-rate plumber or electrician, possibly even homeless. Gray on brown on gray.

He stepped back to the podium and the mike, his voice almost hoarse from all the talking this weekend.

"Blend is important. Sometimes you want to be hornet, warn everyone of your sting, wear fancy boots and nice hat. Sometimes you want to blend, hide in shadows and not be noticed. This is key. Easy to finish the job and walk away. Not like pajama man. Clean quickly and disappear. No mistakes, no mess."

He indicated the toolbox. "Toolbox is inconspicuous. No one notices. Could be books, or tools, or clothes. No one thinks is guns, knives, grenades."

Leon unbuttoned his coat and stepped in front of the podium again, taking off the coat and laying it on the table next to the toolbox and plant. He turned around, slowly. The harness was molded to him from years of wear, weight distributed to not feel heavy, everything hidden by the coat--even the bulky bolt cutters. He stepped back behind the podium.

"Everything at hand. No searching. No forget or misplace. Always at hand, and always under coat. Keep everything blended. No funny hair, no tattoo. Live quiet, speak quiet, keep healthy. Landlord forget you except for check. Neighbors forget you, tell police nothing if asked. No flash. Just...simple." He stopped. Questions?


Maybe he find that girl with the bombs.

For once out of uniform, Roy took a seat somewhere in the middle of the room, intending to sit through all the panels this morning. The fact that the name on this one was familiar didn't pass him by.
