Bluth's Original Frozen Banana Stand, Fri. 2/8

Sky got to work right on time, in spite of another near-sleepless night. Now on top of everything else swimming around in his head, he was worried about Teddy after talking to Chad, and because of the fact that he hadn't seen his little big brother in over a week. Sky really didn't feel like dressing in The Suit today- or ever again- but he also didn't want Mr. Manager to get upset with him (especially because, in the midst of everything, he'd forgotten his promise to pass out flyers during the week), so on the stupid thing was.

He was grumpy and cranky and wasted no time shooing Eddie and his girlfriend off the counter with the broom when he got there, then settled in to read a book and think some more.

Bluth's is open.

"Hi!" Amber said cheerfully. Not too cheery to comment on the banana suit however.

"What do you suggest? I've never had a frozen banana before."

Sky quickly marked his page and straightened up when he saw a customer coming.

"Hello," he said before ~~handwavily~~ explaining all of the flavors. "I usually just prefer the original, myself, but they're all good."

"Then I'll take the original, please. A medium," she said, smiling. "Oh, and I'm Amber Atkins!"

"Coming right up," said Sky, preparing the banana and handing it over. "$1.85, please. Oh ...I'm Sky Tate."

Amber dug in her pocket and pulled out a couple dollar bills and slid them across the counter to him. "Keep the change, Sky." Grabbing a napkin, she took a bite. "Mmm, s'good. You been workin here long?"

"Ah... thanks," said Sky, putting the money inside the cash register and shutting the drawer. "I've been here a couple of weeks," he went on. "It's not bad, except for..." He indicated The Suit. "Oh, and Eddie." He indicated the seagull, who, upon seeing that Amber had purchased FOOD FOOD FOOD, had waddled over and was staring up at her, cawing. His girlfriend soon followed.

Amber didn't make a face at the suit, but she did grin a little. "You look cute, Sky. And Eddie...?" Looking where he indicated, Amber laughed at the two birds. "Oh my gosh! They are just too cute." She plucked off two pieces of her banana and tossed them. "Do they bother you much?"

"Cute?" Sky fought down an urge to groan, as it would have been impolite, though he might have gone slightly pink. "I'm flattered that you think so. I think it's embarrassing... everyone else tends to either give me funny looks or laugh." He watched her feed the seagulls, suddenly glad he'd not gone for the sling shot or the broom. "Usually they just sit there and watch me. Sometimes they'll hop up on the counter, especially when there are customers here, and try to get someone to feed them. They don't quite know what to make of me when I have this on, I don't think; they think I look tasty, but aren't quite sure what to do with a banana this big, either."

And here was Z. She didn't have a camera this time, for she was a kind and merciful Z.

"Hey, Z," said Sky with a little wave as she approached. He had one hand on the slingshot stowed under the counter, as Eddie and the girlfriend had both settled on top of it. Not bothering him, but watching.

Plotting, he was sure.

Z glanced at the seagulls. "Hey, Sky. What's up with the birds?"

Eddie waddled across the counter until he was level with Z and peered up at her. His girlfriend, meanwhile, decided she'd had enough and returned to their usual bench.

"They hang around here every day," Sky said. "Mr. Manager calls this one Eddie. They try and get people to feed them. And I suppose they think I look pretty tasty, too."

"Well," Z said with a smirk, "you are dressed like a giant fruit." Then she narrowed her eyes at Eddie and suggested, "Beat it."

Eddie blinked and cawed loudly in response.

"You'd better take her advice, bird," said Sky, finally pulling out the slingshot. "She can take you out 4 or 5 different ways. At the same time." Eddie blinked and cawed again, unfazed by the sight of the weapon, as Mr. Manager wasn't a great shot. "And yes, I know, I'm dressed like food. I thought about not wearing it today, but knowing my luck my boss would show up to check on me."

"I think the bird thinks he can take us," Z said ruefully. "Don't you know you should always wear your uniform when on duty? It's in the SPD Handbook."

"Well, yeah, there's that, too," said Sky. "My boss tells me to wear the uniform, so I wear it." He finally set the slingshot down, grabbed the broom, and prodded Eddie with it. "Leave us alone, bird. GO." Eddie finally gave up and flapped off, his girlfriend following him away from the stand. Easy pickings could be had later. Sky watched them go with a huge sigh.

"I'm not gonna laugh at you, Sky. I think you look adorable," she said, looking down at the birds. "They must think you're cute too. They haven't tried attacking you, have they?

"Well... again, I'm flattered," said Sky. "And thanks for not laughing or even staring." He stared at the two seagulls, unwilling to think that they could find anything 'cute'. "Nah, they never attack anybody, just annoy them."

"They're kind of cute," Z said. "In an annoying, feathered way. Does the other one have a name?"

"Sure... cute," said Sky. "No, I just saw the other one for the first time last week. I've been thinking of names for it... most of them crude and immature."

"How about Edwina?" Z suggested. Yes, she thought she was cute.

Sky snickered. "There you go, then. They can have matching names." He readjusted the suit, as it was starting to ride up in all the wrong places and make him uncomfortable. Though he'd never tell Z that.
