This was starting to be a habit. Three weeks in a row now. Ino didn't know if that was a good or bad sign, all things considered, but she slipped into the diner sometime in the afternoon.

"Hi, you."

Michael grinned at her from behind the counter.

"Hey."

She smiled and leaned against the counter. "Talked to Cable-san about you," she said, figuring he'd want to know that she was at least taking her safety seriously, or something.

Ino had mostly done it to avoid the lecture Cable would've given her when he'd found out.

He was, indeed, pleased to hear that... if a little nervous.

"Yeah? What'd he say?"

"He looked thoughtful and told me to come back on Monday," Ino shrugged, "he'll probably have a security feature or something to show me then."

Michael nodded, relieved.

"Long as it works, that'd be good. You want something to eat?"

"Cable-san knows what he's doing," she told him, "he's got powers of his own."

Ino tilted her head, glancing at the specials board, "I guess... sure." She grinned. "You pick."

He smiled, pleased to hear her accepting food this week, and eyed the board.

"You eat meat?"

That made her blink.

"Don't... most people?" Dad was pretty tolerant of her food fads but Ino was pretty sure he'd have laid the law down if she'd tried to entirely cut out a food group.

"Some people don't", he said with a shrug. "I try and put one thing on the specials without any, for if they come in."

"I guess," Ino still looked dubious, "how do they get the proper nutrition though? Dad would kill me if I tried something like that."

"There's other things with protein, I guess. I don't know, I never tried it." Another glance at the board and he suggested, "Stuffed mushrooms?"

"I have got to mention that to Chouji the next time I write," Ino said, "he totally won't believe me."

"Sure," she grinned, "it's up to you." Caramel was pretty much the only thing Ino disliked.

"Mushrooms it is." He grinned and disappeared into the kitchen.

Ino leaned against the counter, content to wait, and after a few minutes possibly started humming.

She didn't have too long to wait - it was a fairly quick dish to cook, and the preparation had all been done already - before he emerged, dish in hand, and grinned as he set it down in front of her.

"There."

She grinned back at him. "My hero," Ino teased.

"If feeding you's all it takes to be your hero", he said cheerfully, "remind me to do it again."

She stuck her tongue out at him. "What can I say?" Ino laughed. "I've got many heroes but you're the only one that'll cook for me."

"Well, I've gotta have some advantage."

Ino eyed him thoughtfully while nibbling on the mushrooms. "What," she asked finally, "is that supposed to mean?"

She had an idea, but come on, really? Boys.

Michael shrugged. "Just what I said."

It's so cooooold.
