George Michael was selling candy hearts today instead of banana's.

It was his prerogative as Mr. Manager.

So there.

The banana stand is open.

Mary showed up around lunchtime with a very heavy coat and a picnic basket. "It's 71° in Las Vegas today," she said regretfully.

George Michael flashed her his winning grin. "We could leave right now?" he suggested.

"I could get us a really fancy hotel suite. We could order room service and stay in all night," suggested Mary with a smile.

"Sounds perfect," he told her, coming around from behind the stand to kiss her.

That definitely warmed Mary up. After taking the time to share a lingering kiss, Mary whispered, "Ever seen Las Vegas on Valentine's Day? Everywhere you turn, there's another woman in a wedding dress. You start seeing white everywhere."

"I've never been to Las Vegas," he said against her lips, nibbling before pulling back slightly. He did, however, keep his hands holding at her waist.

Mary fussed with George Michael's hair. "Did I tell you that the new casino owner offered me a job? I turned him down," she said. "I have a perfectly good hotel already."

"Really?" he asked, because he didn't think she had mentioned that to him. "Would you be manager there?"

She hadn't mentioned it before. "I would be a manager, but here I get to be an owner. Besides, taking that job would have meant working for Danny, and I just didn't want to do that," added Mary.

"I'm glad you're not, because if you left, I would leave also," George Michael said.

"Well, I'm not going anywhere, so you'll have to stay put," said Mary. "Las Vegas is nice to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there. Fandom is my home now, even if it gets a little colder than what I'm used to."

"Do you want to get married, Mary?" Yeah, just out of nowhere.

That caught Mary completely by surprise. "What?" she gasped.

George Michael just went with it. "Will you marry me?"

"But I wasn't putting any pressure on you! At least, I was trying not to," stammered Mary.

"I know," he said, clearly not thinking about his dad killing him or anything. "No pressure here. Do you want to have a baby too?" George Michael might have a sugar high from stealing candy hearts from himself all day.

"Honey, are you feeling okay?" asked Mary, placing her hand on his forehead to check for fever.

"I'm feeling great," he leaned in to press another kiss to her lips. "You didn't answer me. Will you marry me? I was thinking I could move all of my stuff to your room and then my room could be free and we could just make our living together legal."

Distracting her with kisses was no fair.

"You really want to do this? You want to get married?" asked Mary. After what happened with Danny, Mary wanted to be absolutely certain that this was really what George Michael wanted before she said anything.

"I love you," he said simply, looking down into her eyes.

And that just about made her melt. "I love you too," said Mary. "You really, really want to do this? You're not going to wake up tomorrow and freak out because I said yes?"

"...are you saying yes?"

"If you're really serious about this, then my answer is yes," said Mary.

He smiled wide and kissed her hard.

But then...

Wait.

He pulled back and peered down at her with a lift of his brow. "Aren't you serious about this?"

"I'm totally being serious about this!" Mary almost shouted. "Please tell me you're serious too."

"I'm totally being serious!" George Michael almost shouted back. "I want to marry you and everything!"

"Then if you want to get married and I want to get married..." Mary still looked a little stunned but she was smiling.

"Then we'll get married and not tell anyone!"

Ooops. He didn't mean to say that.

"I mean, uh, I mean that of course we'll tell everyone. We'll have a big wedding. Right?"

"I don't need a big wedding," said Mary. "Something nice and simple would be enough for me. How about you?"

"Nice and simple it is," he said, still with the smile. "When? I'm thinking the sooner the better."

"Don't you want to take some time to get used to the idea?" asked Mary. She certainly needed it. "And maybe you'd want your family there."

"No. And no."

He thought for a moment.

"Want to elope?"

Mary bit her lip. "Elope?" she asked.

"Bad idea?" he bit his lip too.

"It's just that the last guy who wanted to elope from me was actually running away from something," said Mary. "I really don't want to rush into anything."

"All right. I'll leave the wedding planning to you. I'm not really any good at that stuff," he said.

"I still can't believe this is happening," said Mary, with a big smile on her face. "You might have to pinch me so I know I'm not dreaming."

He did better than that. He reached his hand behind her head and pulled her close for a deeply satisfying kiss. "No dreaming, Mary."

"I don't think I've ever been this happy, and it's all because of you," whispered Mary. "And now I get to plan my own wedding!"

"And it's forever Mary. Remember that. I want you forever," he told her, holding her close.
