Book Haven - Friday, 02-29

Liir, bunny in pocket if not in hand, opened the shop on time today, though he didn't bring any sort of food with him; all he had were some of the cookies he'd made up the yesterday, which served nicely along with the usual treats and tea.

He straightened all of the books, dusted the shelves, and finally pulled one of the volumes from the bin at the back as he did every Friday. He had his book on magic in his bag, but it wasn't anything to be reading while he was on the clock.

His book choice was the only thing that might have indicated the faintly fatalistic mood that had fallen on him of late. Otherwise, he looked peaceful enough petting the little bunny working happily on a carrot on the counter.

Book Haven is open.

Millie popped down to say hello. "Good morning, Liir! Did you get my ~~handwavey~~ note thanking you for the lovely flowers? It was very nice of you to think of me. I've never gotten anything for Valentine's Day before!"

He looked up with a smile. He hadn't seen Millie for what seemed like ages.

"Yes," he said. "I'm glad you liked them. I hope you had a nice Valentine's Day."

He had.

He looked over at the bunny and made sure to give him an extra scritch under the chin. Andrew made a soft grinding noise which settled Liir immensely.

"I didn't get to bring in sandwiches or soup today, though."

"I had a nice quiet day upstairs," Millie said with a smile. "Soup and sandwiches? Goddess, you don't need to worry about that! Though I did try some of the soup the other day. Quite delicious!"

He blushed faintly.

"I'm glad you enjoyed it. Though I try to bring something. Especially as it's been so cold out."

Oh yes," Millie said. "Quite a big change from where I grew up. I have been resorting to very spicy things to try and keep myself warm."

He perked at the mention of spices.

"You like spicy food?" he asked curiously. "Because I do as well, only I know some people don't enjoy it but I'm always trying things out. Would you like me to bring you something if I think you might like it?"

"I would love that!" Millie said happily. "It has been so hard to get used to food away from home. It all seems so bland. Though I did recently discover a variety of hot sauces which have helped immeasurably."

He smiled, glad that someone wasn't mentioning payment or how he shouldn't go out of his way or anything like that. Whatever anyone thought of Liir's tendency to servile behavior, he enjoyed making other people happy with the things he could make or do.

"All right," he said. "I'll try to bring a plate of something to work with me. It shouldn't be too hard since I usually bring Karal lunch today as well."

He smirked.

"I'll just have to keep the spices away from his so he can enjoy his?"

"That would be lovely," Millie said with a smile. "Very kind of you indeed. And yes, if Karal does not like spices it would be best to keep his food separate."

He quirked.

"Actually, I don't know if he likes it or not," he admitted. "I'll have to ask him the next time I see him. But he likes what I cook for him, usually, and that's at least mildly spiced."

The benefit of the Vinkus.

"If you would like," Millie offered, "you could invite some of your friends here for a nice dinner after work. The room in the back is nice or if there weren't too many you could use my apartment upstairs."

He smiled.

"Perhaps when everyone is back," he said as he turned to the bunny. "And Andrew is better."

"Andrew?" Millie said curiously.

He very carefully picked up the fluffy bunny (http://userpic.livejournal.com/72016096/13270951), who peered back with an apologetic sort of look on his fluffy bunny face.

"Andrew," he said. "My boyfriend. Usually he's, um, a boy."

Millie smiled and reached out to try to touch the bunny gently. "He's quite adorable, though no doubt much nicer when he is himself. And I had assumed he was usually a boy, else I should have been a bit concerned about your choice of boyfriends."

Andrew's little ears flopped before he gave a soft coo at the touch. Liir smiled and scritched beneath his chin, which had the little rabbit rubbing his chin on Liir's fingers and making a soft grinding noise.

"I'll have to introduce you when he's better," he said. "I'm taking care of him while he's, er, indisposed."

"I should like that very much," Millie said, stroking the bunny's ears carefully. "Is he often like this?"

He shook his head.

"It seems to be another case of Fandom Weirdness, as I've heard it called," he said. "Though everyone seems to think it shouldn't last longer than a week."

He only thinks the world is ending. Really.
