Through the Streets of Town - Afternoon

Aly wandered slowly back through town.  For some reason the sky seemed bluer and the birds were chirping in some sort of unison as what sounded like background music swelled around her.

She frowned.  "Not happening again, thank you," Aly muttered, thrusting her hands in her pocket as she sped up, trying to get home before the urge to sing struck again.

" Why do they think up stories that link my name with yours?
Why do the neighbors chatter all day, behind their doors?
I know a way to prove what they say is quite untrue.
Here is the gist, a practical list of "don'ts" for you.
Don't throw bouquets at me
Don't please my folks too much
Don't laugh at my jokes too much
People will say we're in love!"

"Dammit, there's no one else here," she snapped, biting off the next verse.  "Who am I supposed to be in love with?"

"Is it Jesus?" Wade asked, ambling on up behind her.

Wade snickered. "Oh, really?" He really had to resist saying 'O Rly' there too.

"Don't go breaking my heart."

The glare Aly gave him at bursting into song again was only subsumed as she got caught up in the music.

"I couldn't if I tried."

"Honey if I get restless..." Wade sang back, an exaggerated little shrug as he wrapped an arm around her waist.

"Baby you're not that kind" she argued, dancing around to face him.

Wade kept his hand on her waist, twirling them on the street. "Don't go breaking my heart!"

Aly kinda hated him so much right now. But she liked the dancing.

"You take the weight off me."

"Oh, honey when you knocked on my door," Wade continued, dipping her.

"I gave you my key," she sang, throwing her leg out dramatically.

"Ooo-ooo! Nobody knows it!" They actually did a darn good harmony on that part too.

Wade was impressed.

"When I was down--"

Which was obviously, obviously true.

"Nobody knows it--," Wade sang in unison with her again. "Right from the start--"

Aly twirled out, miming the next line to him.

"I gave you my heart. I gave you my heart."

"So don't go breaking my heart..." Wade grabbed her hand to twirl her back in, his chest against her back.

She leaned back against him, hanging onto his hand across her waist. "I won't go breaking your heart," Aly sang as if her life depended on it.

"Don't go breaking my heart!" Wade gave her a sad panda look, kissing her cheek.

She glared at him for stealing her lines and turned to wrap her arms around his neck. "And nobody told us."

"`Cause nobody showed us," Wade sang back, ignoring the dirty look. Because he liked this part better.

Aly tried to trip him as they were dancing.

"And now it's up to us babe."

Which just earned her a large merc falling on her.

Take that.

"I think we can make it.

Which was why she was punching him in the small ribs.

"So don't misunderstand me."

"You put the light in my life." Wade grinned anyway, rolling off.

Aly laughed, rolling over on top of him. "You put the sparks to the flame!"

"I've got your heart in my sights Wade replied seriously. "So don't go breaking my... don't go breaking my..."
