Pizza Planet, Friday (March 7)

Jen had her nose buried in the time ship manual today, which made her mind work in strange ways when it came to thinking up pizza specials, especially when she kept sneezing. What was up with the dust today, anyway?

She really had no idea of certain streaky events that would be happening later on today, which might have made today's special unfortunate.

Light tomato sauce, no cheese

SO SLEEPY TODAY ARGH. Fridays do not go fast enough.

It would have, had Tom not been busy trying to keep a sudden attack of massive, multicolored dust bunnies from entering and ruining his pizza parlor. Swiffer duster and broom in hand, he was covered from head to toe in bright orange dust, looking for all the world like big cheese doodle, as he stood near the door and fought back the exploding bunnies.

He was losing.

Fandom was so strange.

"No super surprise special today?" Adam winked, having caught sight of today's special. He'd been expected something extravagant.

Jen looked up after a moment and laughed. "No, full disclosure on the pizza tod -- your clothes aren't black any more."

"Ahh, I see," Adam nodded and then laughed lightly. "I think you might be the first person who has noticed that," he admitted.

"It's kind of funny," Jen said wryly, "how many people won't notice what color clothes you tend to wear, even if you wear that color every day, isn't it?"

"It is, yeah," Adam nodded, wondering if some people were just that oblivious. "I suppose some people just don't notice little things like that."

Okay, so that wasn't exactly something little, but hey. People wore their favorite colors all the time. It didn't mean anything, at least not in their case. Adam, was a different story.

"Yeah," Jen acknowledged, "but seriously, how many times can you suddenly drop everything you're doing to run off on some mysterious emergency before people wonder if something's up?"

[[*beams*]]

"It seems to be a regular occurrence around here," Adam pointed out, after internally freaking for a moment.

Adam dismissed the thought as soon as it surfaced. There was no way she could know.

[Srsly. ILU. *pats her flailing Zeo ranger*]

Adam really had no idea how much Jen's internal geeky fangirl was spazzing all over the place right now. This was probably a good thing for all concerned.

"Good thing about Fandom, isn't it?" she said casually.

It was definitely a good thing. Adam wouldn't know what to do; though he signed an autograph for Z without really knowing why.

"Very good thing," Adam agreed. He was certainly glad he'd decided to come to Fandom, that was for sure.

"Nobody thinks you're really weird if you have to back into a corner and talk to your wrist every now and then," she said under her breath.

Adam stopped for a moment, not sure he'd heard Jen clearly. Maybe he was just hearing things. He'd freaked before, thinking she knew his other identity, which was why he'd imagined her saying something about sneaking away and talking to his wrist.

"What was that?" He was hearing things, yeah.

Jen cleared her throat. Fangirl mode needed to put the brakes on, fast, before she blew the poor boy's cover.

"Oh, you know," she backpedaled quickly, "nobody thinks you're weird if you're talking to animals like they're people, because they could be . . ."

See, he'd just misheard her. No big deal.

"Yeah," Adam nodded, chuckling. "I'm worried I'll be so used to it thanks to Fandom, that when I go home, I'll keep doing it," he shook his head, grinning lightly. "Then people will think I'm really strange."

"Only if they notice," Jen reminded him. "People can be so oblivious. Especially in California, for some reason."

"Good point," Adam nodded, smirking. "Must be something in the water," he joked.

"Or all that sunshine," Jen retorted teasingly. "Which doesn't explain why some parts of Washington have the same problem."

Adam laughed. "Yeah, hair isn't the only thing that gets bleached apparently," he winked. "I had no idea Washington residents suffered from the same ailments," he joked.

"Oh, I can't speak for all of it. Just Silver Hills." Jen carefully slid the time ship manual out of sight beneath the counter and leaned forward on her forearms. "People have an amazing ability to deny anything that doesn't make sense to them."

"Silver Hills, got it," Adam smiled slightly. "That they do," he agreed. "I suppose it's a defense mechanism or something."

Their conversation reminds me, Adam and Jen still need to see Officer Tate's severed head sometime...

"I guess. Psychology was never my specialty," Jen said, drumming her fingertips on the counter. "But I have to think that's the only way people know how to deal with, I don't know . . . a giant monster running down the street or something."

"Just a guess," Adam shrugged, not entirely sure what made people act the way they did, sometimes. "It's the only logical response, I suppose? Especially if they don't want to believe what they've seen... like a giant monster in the city streets."

"Not that --" Jen cleared her throat and glanced around quickly to see if Tom or any of the kitchen staff were within earshot. A little more loudly, she added, "Not tht those things actually happen outside of Fandom or anything."

Oh yes, yes they do... and omg, severed head, what?! ;) *will need therapy because of that, thank you very much!*

"No, of course not," Adam added, making sure he could be heard by anyone who happened to be listening. "Only in Fandom, given the special place that it is."

"And they say the West Coast is the crazy one," Jen added for good measure.

"Boy, they got that one wrong," Adam laughed.

"Seriously." Jen eyed her own pink shirt for a moment, amused that he'd never noticed. Maybe hanging out with Kimberly and Kat for so long had left him immune to noticing.

Adam really had been hanging around Kim and Kat for too long to even notice the regular occurrence of pink.

If he thought about it hard enough, he'd make the connection. But, that wasn't happening, at least not today. "Aside from Fandom weirdness and all that jazz, how goes things?"

"Oh, not too bad, I guess," Jen replied, shrugging. "The singing was a little embarrassing, but at least nobody heard but Bridge."

"Yeah, I thought I was going to get away clean, but no such luck," Adam admitted, smirking slightly.

Jen laughed. "What did you end up singing? Or do I want to know?"

Adam shook his head, smiling sheepishly. "Just a couple of random tunes. I think one might have been from the Red Hot Chili Peppers?"

"Whoever they are," Jen said gamely. "Twenty-first century pop culture still isn't my strong point. I just got the most clichéd 80's pop song in history . . ."

"Oh no, what was it?" Adam raised an eyebrow, curious. "Was it that bad?"

"Cyndi Lauper," Jen muttered, her ears turning pink.

. . . see, even her blushing was color-coded.

Or that could just be standard human reaction.

Whatever.

"Oh man," Adam shook his head. "I'm sorry."

"Tell me about it. I still can't get it out of my head!"

"I hate that," Adam cringed. Really, he did. "I'd offer up a different song, but then that would probably end up stuck in your head, too."
