Trooper Station: Wednesday

Dale was busy at his desk going over some of the prepared plans and a list of supplies that he and Renee had been working over the past months. Granted none of the things they were prepared for had actually happened but Dale was still going to make sure that the Fandom Police Department wasn't going to get caught with their pants down.

"Ralph? If you suddenly turned into a woman what do you think your cup size would be?" Dale asked as he looked over the request for for new equipment.

Ralph ignored Dale and continued to type.

Roy had checked Aly's apartment again that morning to make sure she hadn't come back, but finding no sign of her having been there at all, he just headed straight to the station to see if anything else was up.

According to radio she had held her class as usual and she'd been in the preserve and Roy was already thinking of sending a patrol there to make sure nothing strange was going on there. Then he quickly told himself that Aly would probably laugh at him from worrying.

"Morning, Cooper. Everything in order?"

"A few complaints about kids putting lawn ornaments in various NPC townspeople's yards but otherwise everything seems to be normal," Dale replied. "We're still dealing with a lot of paperwork from last week where everyone's shoes got their own personalities."

Roy wasn't sure if that was a good or a bad thing. "I was supposed to meet Aly last evening, but she never made it home. I don't know if she was called away urgently and just forgot to ask me to mind the kittens or..." He shrugged a little.

Dale raised an eyebrow at that. "Has she done anything like that before?"

"Once," Roy remember with a grimace. "That was a long time ago, I've been minding the cats for her ever since." Plus, they were supposed to have dinner. She wouldn't just bail on him.

"We usually can't put out a missing persons report until 24 hours have past," Dale noted. "However there's nothing that says we can have the troops do a check patrol over the island."

Roy nodded. "Radio said she was at the preserve some time during the day. Knowing the island it's probably a good idea to send a patrol out that way first and see if they notice anything suspicious. Better to be safe than sorry," he told Cooper, quite possibly thinking of joining the patrol.

"Good idea," Dale said. "And before you send Ralph out make sure he supplies me with a cup size for a bra."

Roy raised an eyebrow. "Do I want to ask?" It was very strange that he actually knew it. That was one very rare time where he wished he wasn't good at guessing clothes sizes.

"Just making plans in case we all turn into women," Dale replied. "I feel that the police department needs to be prepared for every contingency. For instance if everyone starts breaking out into song again, I've ordered extra earplugs for the staff."

"That's..." Actually that could be convenient. "Keep up the good work, Cooper."

"Will do Sheriff," Dale said giving his trademark thumbs up. "And what cup size should I put down for you?"

Roy snorted. "Go with C," he replied, shaking his head.

"And what kind of underwear would you prefer?" Dale said, continuing to make notes.

Roy eyed Dale. "You know, I'll just get it myself," he decided.

"Duly noted," Dale said with a nod. "Though I'd advise wearing different kinds a head of time so you can be prepared for maximum comfort."

Roy paused for a very long time. "I think I'll cope."

"If you say so Sheriff," Dale said in his usual chipper manner as he headed for a refill. "Coffee?"

"Yeah, that's not a bad idea," he agreed, not having slept a whole lot.

Dale poured himself and Roy a cup and offered one. "So how are things with you and Aly these days. Disappearance not withstanding."

"Disappearance not withstanding they are going well," Roy replied, gratefully accepting the cup. "Am I that obvious?"

"Body language," Dale said as his answer. "Not that I predicted such a thing earlier if you recall."

"Perhaps it was a self-fulfilling prophecy," Roy remarked, not quite able to hide a grin but it was soon followed by worry.

"She'll turn up," Dale said with confidence. "She's the kind of person who can handle anything that is thrown at her."

Roy let out a breath. "She is," he agreed. "I'm probably worrying over nothing." He was mostly trying to convince himself there. "Just let me know if there's anything out of the order going on?"

"I'll keep you in the loop, Sheriff," Dale replied. "I'm sure there's nothing to worry about."

"You're probably right," Roy agreed, wishing he could believe it too. He finished off his mug. "I'll just have the troopers confirm that it is."

"If you'd prefer to go out on your own, Sheriff, I can handle things here," Dale said as he sipped from his mug. "Somehow I don't think paperwork is going to ease your concern."

Roy let out a breath. "Does it ever?" he asked, but the offer was a good one and he placed his cup on the desk. "I'll accompany the troopers. We'll be in contact as soon as we find out anything."

"Sounds good, Sheriff," Dale said giving him a thumbs up. "I'll be on the radio here if you need me."

Roy nodded. "I'll talk to you later, Cooper," he said, rapping his knuckles on the desk before he turned to fetch the troopers.

Faith raised an eyebrow. "You usually got a problem turning into a chick?" she asked.

"Apparently it has happened before in Fandom," Dale said with a small grin. "So I want to be prepared in the small chance it happens again."

"Totally the Boy Scout thing," she grinned. "Nice to see you're consistent."

"It's not just a motto," Dale said with a grin. "It's something everyone should do. You never know what could crop up here in Fandom."

"Living on a Hellmouth is good for keeping you on your toes," she nodded. "This place has got a lower body count, but that don't make it safe, right? Nowhere's safe all the time."

"True enough," Dale said with a small grin before it turning it into something a little serious. "I don't suppose you've heard from Detective Montoya?"

"Not since last week," Faith said, falling into the nearest chair and frowning. "Said it might be a while before she could call. Trying not to worry."

Kinda sucking at that bit.

"That's what she told me as well," Dale said with a nod. "She told me that she is heading to the Himilayas in the Tibet region."

His look became somewhat... wistful.

"You don't know how much I envy her."

"The Himalayas?" Faith asked. "Never been there. Thailand was pretty sweet. Weird as hell, though. This some Buddhist thing?"

"And so much more," Dale said with a giant and enthusiastic grin. "I have a book here if you are interested in the history of Tibet and the Dalai Llama."

"Might be kinda neat," she smiled. "I'm a slow reader, but I been workin' on that other book you got me. Trippy. You could always ditch work for a few days, go see Tibet again, couldn't you?"

"Well with Renee off and about we're a bit short staffed," Dale replied thoughtfully, "However the idea is a good one."

"If you ever need help filling in ..." She trailed off before laughing, and shrugging a bit more into her coat. "Yeah. If you ever need me to cover a shift, y'know. Cop, fugitive, they're pretty close, right?"

"Sometimes they are the same thing, Miss Lehane," Dale said with a wry grin. "Unfortunately."

"I guess you're right," she said. "Okay. You ever need back-up, lemme know, and if it's gotta be off the record, I can keep my mouth shut. Okay?"

"I know you can, Miss Lehane and yes it would have to be off the record," Dale replied. "So if something does come up that will require your talents I will be the first to call you."

"... You mean that?" Faith said, after a second, and then she smiled. "Thanks. That's, uh. You know. Appreciate it and all that."

"I've already asked you to act as a safeguard for me in case something goes wrong," Dale said seriously. "I trust you Faith. That means a lot to me."
