Turtle & Canary, Tuesday

Sulley kept an eye out for any suspicious-looking statues on his way down to town. When he was content that nothing was going to eat his face, he opened the store. Suspiciously.

Today's Squishy Flavors: Space (tastes like Grape Judas), Swedish Fish (tastes like Grape Judas), Red (tastes like Grape Judas)

When his player wakes up.

Sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep.

G'Kar was back to feeling like his normal self after spending much of his day yesterday recovering from a hangover (http://gkar-lastkhari.livejournal.com/4546.html) sleeping in.

"Good day, Sulley," he greeted. "How are you today?"

The mantra could be hearing coming down the street well before Turtle even reached the door of Turtle & Canary.

"Please let it be okay, please let it be okay, please let it--"

She threw the door open and almost immediately upon entering, Turtle's hand settled on her chest and she let out a giant breath of relief as she slumped back against the frame of the door.

"Oh, thank God, it's okay."

Or, at the very least, if there's been any sledgehammer damage, either Jamie or Sulley had already fixed it, and she would have practically glomped Sulley right then and there if it weren't for the fact that she couldn't move with how relieved she was.

Sokka took a sip of his Squishy and frowned at Sulley. "Okay, there is something SERIOUSLY wrong with Swedia, if their fish taste like this."

Sokka jumped when he saw Turtle there. On the one hand, AAAAGH! ...On the other hand, he didn't have to go seek her out.

"I DIDN'T BREAK ANYTHING!!!" he insisted. "...Much!"

Turtle was about to let Sokka off, until that second bit and her eyes widened and that too-early heart-attack started teasing her again. "Much?" she repeated. "MUCH?"

Miraculously, she found herself able to move, reaching for Sokka in an attempt to take him by the shoulders and shake him. "What do you mean, MUCH?"

"ONE jar of sauce!" Sokka insisted as he was shaken bodily. "ONE JAR. It was easy to clean up, I swear!!!"

"One jar?" Turtle asked in a demanding voice, with one more shake of Sokka. "You swear that's all it was, just one jar?"

"That's it, I swear. I was actually BUYING the sledgehammers. And... You might be a little happier with me when you take a look at the balance sheet."

Which should show a pre-paid order of several hundred dollars' worth of garden statuary.

Turtle took in a deep, deep, calming breath before letting Sokka go and giving a short, tight nod. "Good," she said. Buying was good. Very good. She would have to go do that, peek at yesterday's sales to verify. "Okay. Good. Sorry about...the shaking. But, you know, I had the store trashed once, I didn't need it to happen again, by employees, no less."

She frowned a little. "What kind of sauce was it?"

"Don't worry, I'm not going to trash the store!" Sokka looked offended at that.

"...It was... tomato something. I mean, on carpet it would've been a big thing, but" -- he stamped his foot -- "tile. Easy clean."

Turtle met Sokka's offended look with a firmly worried, slightly pouting one. After all, she'd never have assumed Mister Cable would trash her store, either, but look what happened, so she hoped to convey in her look that it wasn't anything personal, it was just self-defense to not allow anyone past the line of suspicion.

And then she nodded again. "And Apu is exceptionally good at spill clean-ups, especially in aisle seven. Good. I'm just...now I start to wonder if maybe the squirrels wrote it out like that just to make me flail..."

"I think the squirrels are evil," Sokka agreed.

"I know the squirrels are evil," Turtle said desperately. "One of them even tried to steal my boyfriend. You can't trust them further than you can throw them."

Pause.

"Okay, that's a bad analogy, because I bet some people around here could throw them pretty far."

Sokka grinned at that. "I could throw them pretty far," he insisted, "and I don't even have any superhuman powers."

"I could kick them pretty far," Turtle commented, not to be outdone.

Sokka nodded, grinning. "AND you're pretty good at throttling. We may cure you of your violence-phobia, yet."

"I haven't got a violence-phobia," Turtle stated. "I simply believe that violence is best kept to certain...things. Where it's light, and I know for a fact that I'm not going to get hurt out of the whole ordeal."

Sokka shrugged. "Well, okay... But with that sort of attitude, just make sure you're somewhere safe when the island's invaded."

"Usually," Turtle snorted a bit bitterly, "that's exactly what my plan is..."

Sokka shrugged again. "It's your life. Not my fault if you want to miss out on all the fun."

"Oh, hello sir," Sulley greeted with a smile. "I'm good. Much better now that the angels are gone."

"Was it not okay?" Sulley asked, looking around.
