Luke's Diner; Wednesday [ 03/26 ]

A.J. came into work today with a bit of a nervous energy, mostly out of hoping that it would be overlooked that he ducked out of work on Sunday for the rather impromptu trip home for the holiday. Either way, he was doing a good job of cleaning up in an effort to make up for hte indiscretion.

Today's special was a picture of a pig without legs, but tentacles instead: Squid Pork.

Luke's is open!

It was Wednesday. River had no place she needed to be today so she had gone for a walk, and as she passed the diner and noticed A.J. she thought she could combine talking to a friend and getting something to eat.

She looked at the picture. "Berthold met a pig?"

Annette wandered in sometime after lunch. She was in a fairly decent mood though she did look askance at today's special. It didn't look too good. Yuck.

"Hi," she said finally.

"Yes," she said, returning his grin with a bright one of her own. "Squid pork just doesn't sound too good."

She sat down at the counter. "How are you today?"

"I'd prefer fries with ice cream," she said, looking serious. "And thank you for taking care of Bertie."

She raised her brows, clearly not believing him. That stuff had to be made up by someone. And a pig with no legs? Well, the poor piggy.

"Hey, you haven't got that cash yet. I could totally renege and see if I could get another dance out of you," she teased mischievously.

Wednesdays meant dealing with the idiots in Dr. Mizrahi's class, which meant Anemone was in the mood for food by the time class was over. Thinking always made her hungry.

Besides, she had a present for her favorite counter-boy.

"Hey, A.J., busy? Or can I hang out and pester you?"

"Vanilla." River couldn't help chuckling, because A.J.'s comment was so characteristic for him. "Any drawings made? I find Berthold rarely stays unmoving when I try." Not that she had tried much lately.

Huh. Maybe.

She leaned her arms on the counter. "I have been known to be a touch wicked," she said. "But you earned it, definitely, so you'll get it." Annette paused, then asked as she drew circles on the countertop with the pad of her finger. "So... when do you want to come by?"

"Was referring to drawings of," River replied. "He tends to eat pens." She smiled. "He stops tripping you if you bite him."

"Bored," she complained, taking a seat at the counter. "And? Since I obviously never feed you or anything..." Anemone plopped a lunchbox down and grinned. "Dirty pie."

"Whenever," Annette said, watching him. "I mean, it's not like I do much, you know? So I'm usually always in."

Hmm.

"I really should get out more."
