The sign on the door read Open; there was a dog at the door, and the owner was present and looking-- for his standards-- pretty approachable, sitting at the desk with his laptop shoved into a corner.

And yet the air of one of those days seemed to float across the store like a cloud that wouldn't quite pass from the sun.

Which would be about when Deadpool wandered on in the store. He needed to pester Nate more often, darn it.

"Tetherpup." He nodded to the dog and tossed a treat his way.

"It's not going to stick," Nate commented. From the peanut gallery. He leaned his face in his hand.

I'll soldier on!" Wade insisted. "Somehow... somehow..."

"Yeah..." Nate exchanged glances with the dog. "I'm sure you will."

"It might!" Wade sighed, sitting on the corner of Nate's desk and patting his leg to call the dog over. "Come 'ere boy!"

Tether attempted to do the exchanging glances thing again, but Nate refused to cooperate.

In retaliation (or so Nate idly supposed), he trotted up to Wade to put his nose in Wade's foot.

Which earned him much in the way of ear rubs and petting.

"Are you ever gonna get a chair for me to sit on while here?"

"Even if I did, you'd still sit on the desk." Nate shifted back against the chair. "I'm saving on furnishing expenses."

"Well you never know until you try!"

"Words to live by," Nate deadpanned. "Tether?"

The dog very, very slowly disengaged himself from Wade's foot.

Very slowly.

Almost not at all.

"Everyone's spoiling him."

Wade continued to pet him, offering another treat that was technically for a fox. "Of course they do! He's ah-freaking-dorable."

"He's a dog. He needs some discipline." Which really wasn't going to happen, at this rate. "Don't overdo it."

Raising an eyebrow at him, Wade continued to pet Tether. "He's a puppy."

"Vastly different from a dog..."

"Weetiny dog and therefore deserving of petting and treats." There was an unspoken 'duh' there.

"The puppy stage is also when they learn the patterns of behaviour that will last them their entire lives," Nate noted, eyeing the scene. And Tether, who was enjoying it a little bit too much. "You're teaching him to beg."

Nate was much too clinical about this whole thing.

"Stop being a stick in the mud about this!"

"I'm not being a stick in the mud." Nate pulled open a drawer of his desk-- revealing a tennis ball. He put it down on the table next to Wade. "Knock yourself out." Fetch totally helped discipline.

Picking up the ball and bouncing it a few times in his hand, Wade chucked it across the room for Tether.

"Softy. Total softy."

"I can't win," Nate deadpanned, but his eyesether. And the ball. "Tether. Bring."

The dog tripped over the ball. Twice.

"Awww, that's just too cute and... is that supposed to happen?"

Also present, and only accessible with permission from the owner.

I am a little... how you say... dead today. Apologies for any large bouts of SP that that causes.
