Wellspring Arms and Meditation Center, Friday

Rikku was at work. Puttering with upgrades to a couple of knives. Staring at some armor and trying to decide what she was going to do with it. Working a little on this, a little on that, and then back to the first and around again.

The Wellspring Arms was open, even if its employee for the day was a bit scattered.

It was-- fairly early when Cable came downstairs. He had a busy schedule, today-- but also a check-up to do.

Both the employee and the stock.

Which is why he greeted-- "Morning, Rikku," on his way to the security panel upon entering the store.

"Morning," she said, watching him carefully. "Is everything okay?"

Security panel didn't mean there were scary people coming or anything. Uh. Right?

"Everything's fine." Cable pulled the casing off said panel. "Just a routine check-up. In the wake of this weekend..." And glanced over his shoulder. "How about you?"

Rikku smiled, faintly. "Yeah. This weekend was ... I was crazy-hyper, you know? I'm ... things are ... settled, more. Now." She chewed her lip. "I'm ... okay."

More or less. Uh. All things considered?

Let it never be said that Cable was a particularly emotionally sensitive man-- But it was fairly obvious. "You sound it," he deadpanned, turning back to run through a test sequence.

"Long week," she admitted, a little sheepishly. "Kinda found out some stuff about ... someone. Not sure what to do now. You know?"

"There are generally reasons why people keep secrets..." But that was mostly rhetorical. Cable frowned at the pad-- ran the sequence again. "Not that that's necessarily a good thing." He preferred to know things.

"Hey stranger," Mel said walking into the shop and holding up a paper bag. "I brought lunch if you are interested."

"Mel," Rikku said, lighting up at both Mel and the bag. "Seriously? That rules. Come in! Um. Not like you weren't anyway. What'd you bring me?"

"Chimichangas," Mel said dropping the bag on the counter. "Of course. What other perfect food could there be?"

"You. Rock." Rikku peered into the bag, and oh, the sweet scent of chimis. "You would totally get hugs for this but you have a total non-hug vibe, so I avoid. So. How've ... you been?"

"Pretty good," Mel said hoisting herself up on the counter and sitting cross-legged. "Still recovering from being seven years old. I don't think I can look at a pickle the same way again."

"Pickles?" Rikku blinked. "What happened with pickles? I, uh, just got crazy-hyper. And got an airplane ride from Professor Skywalker, that seriously ruled."

"Dawn and I apparently thought it was our sacred duty to eat an entire jar of pickles," Mel said with an amused look. "That's me. Melaka Fray. Pickle Slayer."

Hey. There was the place Rikku worked.

Hey. There was a Reno, lingering just outside of it. Going inside would be stupid. Right? Right. Maybe?

Possibly, he'd be out there for a while.

Rikku didn't notice anybody outside the door. She was working on armor. And cleaning some guns. And puttering around over here. And over there.

She nudged the door open and sighed. "You coming in, or what?"

This... was more than he'd been expecting, and Reno nodded slightly before stepping inside.

"Hey, Rikku. I... Uh."

Well. This could have been far more thoroughly thought out, couldn't it?

"Hey," she said, folding her arms and walking back to the counter. "So ... the whole door thing. Did you come for guns and forget it was my day, or did you come to talk to me and you just ... panicked?"

"Do I ever come for the guns?" He ran a hand through his hair and sighed. "Is this too much? If this is too much, I can leave, zoto. I want to say that we have to talk, but... That's me. What you think might be entirely different."

She moved the armor under the counter again, awkwardly, and swapped it out for one of the guns she was upgrading. And hoped he didn't take that as some weird sort of threat? Maybe she'd set that down, too. But she needed something to fuss with while --

Rikku took a deep breath. "What do you want to talk about?"
