The Park, Friday morning

The morning was overcast, the ground still wet from the rain, but even as such, Annette had gotten up early and headed to the park for a morning run. It felt wonderful and though she didn't run but a couple miles, she felt rejuvinated and energized for her day. 

She'd handwavily stopped off at J,GOB's for a couple rolls and sat at a bench near the water, feeding the ducks that would scurry forth to nibble at the offered bread.

Sometime later she supposed she would go back to her room and pack for the weekend, even though she was still trying to decide if she was going. For now, however, she was content to sit in the peace of the morning and feed the ducks. They were cute and reminded her wistfully of Mr. Phale.

He turned and walked another way.

Good thing Annette didn't see him. She would have pretended like she didn't if she had.

Robin had been seized with an impulse to go swim in the pond, so he'd gotten up a bit earlier than usual to go do that.

He was toweling off when he spotted Annette. "Hi!" he waved.

Looking over, she smiled and gave Robin a slight wave. "Hey!"

"Not a bad morning for a run."

"No, it sure isn't," she replied.

Robin draped his towel across his shoulders. "How's it going?"

"Pretty good, I guess," Annette answered. "How about yourself?"

"I'm good. Starting to wonder what's gonna happen this summer. My parents have been saying they'd like me to come home for the summer."

"What would you like to do?" she asked, raising a brow.

"I don't know. I miss all my friends back home, but if I leave, I know I'll miss you guys too."

"Well, I will be graduating and going home myself. It's hard when you miss your family, isn't it?"

Robin nodded. "I spend a lot of time away from home. But it's always been home, you know?"

She nodded, wishing she felt the same way. Home was... smothering to her.

"Do you graduate this year, Robin?"

"Oh no, I'm a freshman. I've got a long time to go before I graduate."

"Yes, you certainly do," she said, smiling at him.

"What're your plans after graduation?"

"I'm not sure yet, really. Going home I guess, then of course, college."

"Where are going to college?"

"Princeton," she replied, smiling a little.

"Oh wow! I hear that's a really good school. Congratulations!"

"Ivy League," Annette seemed to mutter. "Thanks, Robin."

"What are you going to major in?"

"I'm still a little uncertain," she answered honestly. "Trying to decide is more difficult than I thought it would be."

Robin had known what he wanted to do with his life for years. He thought the idea of not knowing was kinda scary. "I guess you could take a bunch of different types of classes till you found one you liked."

She smiled. "I don't know; either history or law."

Both sounded kinda boring to Robin. "I think you'd be great at either one." he said. "And if it's law then you can do all those Legally Blond jokes."
