The Perk, Saturday Morning

She had kept to herself for a week or so - apart from the day she had spent as a boy, when she had bee dancing a lot. Deciding that it was time to abandon the hermit-like life, River had headed to the Perk and ordered a large coffee and an apple cake. Even if no one stopped by there would be people around to watch, and thoughts to listen to.

She found a corner table, and watched the world over the rim of her cup.

Juli stopped in at the Perk, quietly pleased with the temperature and idly thinking of heading down to the beach for the afternoon. Or maybe the park...

She nodded pleasantly to the girl already there. "Good morning."

"I'm not quite certain that I've seen you around before," Juli observed lightly, after a moments pause to try and match the girl with anyone she'd seen before. "A student, I'm assuming?"

She studied the menu, not quite decided as to what she wanted.

That got an amused quirk of her lips. "I've never tried it," she said. "But I suppose I could. I mostly come here for the coffee." Because coffee was easier than any sort of pastry, or cake, or what have you to carry around as she explored the island.

"Coffee and apple cake?" she asked River, then had to sigh a little as the staff took that for being her order. "Anything else you'd recommend?"

That was one way of putting it, she supposed. Juli had to admit that the cake certainly looked good as she got her order. "I'm Dr. Juli Mizrahi," she offered, taking a seat by one of the windows. "Have you been here long?"

"That's quite a long time, it sounds, from what I've heard about the island," Juli observed, wondering if she'd be stuck here for as long.

"True enough." Juli sipped her coffee. "Would you then say that it's been a long or short time for yourself?"

"That often, hmmm," Juli sighed a little, leaning back into her chair.

[Sleep well!]
