The Park, Saturday afternoon

Deep within the Fandom Plotting Zoo (which is not actually in Fandom), a plot - appropriately enough - was conceived. All of the bears within the zoo - and their numbers were large - banded together to achieve three things: 1) mayhem, 2) chaos, and 3) ultimate power. To achieve these three goals, they rediscovered the lost arts of bear metallurgy, weaponsmithing, and laser gun creating. They trained in secret, learning a sure hand with a sword and a sniper's precision with laser guns. And then they waited for the day when the stars aligned (which stars these were was a secret known only to the bears), creating a time when their bear magic would be at its strongest.

That day was today.

And that's why there were a bunch of armed bears in the park looking to pick a fight, eat some squirrels, and generally cause destruction. They announced their arrival by firing several laser blasts into the air and waited for victims...

Townies, would you like to have a bear wander into your business for non-fighting purposes? Perhaps a bear stopping by for pizza amuses you as much as it amuses me. Seely was jogging in the park, completely unaware of any danger whatsoever when he heard the laser blasts. Curious, he started jogging in that direction.

Gwynn had been heading through the park on her way to get coffee when she heard the noises.

This made Gwynn curious and she went to investigate.

On his way back from the beach, John heard the commotion and headed towards it, unaware that he really should've waited until he was armed with more than a beach towel and sunscreen.

Hermione hadn't planned on being out long, but when she heard blasting sounds, she had to go see what was happening.

And you know, as long as she'd been here, she still hadn't expected bears. Which didn't stop her from saying, "Stop that!" She hadn't meant to, but it was like an automatic response to misbehaving.

There was a wee pissed off squirrel hanging desperately to a tree branch and trying to write down the events of the day.

He got the gist of the story -- "OMGWTFBEAR" -- onto his pad and was now ready to launch his counterattack.

So he threw his pencil at the nearest bear. Ha! That would show them.

Ino was cross 'bout finding the Diner closed, and Michael no where to be found. She stalked through the park grumbling to herself, pausing slightly when she heard noises.

This totally bore investigation, and she darted over.

Luke was trotting through the park to work on the shuttle a bit before flying to Dagobah tomorrow.

He hadn't counted on bears.

Peter's spider-sense had been going off for a while. There was something out here.

Granted, he could figure that out from the laser blasts, but his spider-sense was still going off, so he was going to focus on that.

So Peter put on his webshooters, made his way to the park, and... "Huh. That's a lot of bears. A lot of armed bears."

There were bears in the pizza parlor.

Jen felt a little bit guilty about leaving poor Tom in there with them, but at least they seemed to be bonding over pizza toppings. Besides, there were apparently bears all over the park, and they had lasers.

. . . see, it wasn't the lasers that made Jen doubletake. It was just -- wow, that was a lot of armed bears.

Mike was used to being on the lookout for trouble from his days working hotel security. It didn't take him long to figure out that something weird was going on in the park, so he came out to investigate for himself.

Andros had thus far been unaware of any sort of disturbance until he had come to the park to go for a run that afternoon. That was when he noticed the bears and stopped and stared.

Billy had heard the commotion, and that there were bears in the park. Taking the time to arm himself, just in case, with his katana, gun, and throwing stars, he came to investigate.

And he stopped at the edge of the park. Stopped and sat on a severed Troll head, and boggled.

"Rrrrrrright."

...This was not quite the scene Adah expected to see on her way back toward the dorms from her clinic shift. Having walked through dangerous territories before without much concern, Adah did know enough to remain a safe distance away to tilt her head and watch in a sort of marveling fascination at the spectacle. Bears. With lasers. Sresal htiw sreab.

It was beautiful, really.

It was pretty late in the afternoon and Bridge was out on a junk food run that took him past the park.

The park full of unconscious and disarmed (but not dis-armed) bears. Fandom was so weird. And a part of him is kind of sorry he'd missed what looked to be an awesome fight.
