Pixie Dust [4.22]

She'd shopped here often enough, and watched Romeo as he worked, so Dōjima had a pretty good idea of what she was supposed to be doing. 

Not that she was actually working, however.  Instead, she was flipping back and forth between her Spycraft notes and a fashion magazine.   If the fashion challenged needed help, they were going to have to ask.  She even had a handy little form for them to fill out. 

There were several racks of prom dresses, a decent selection of tuxedos, and of course lots of fabulous shoes available for people to try on. 

Pixie Dust was open for business, and Tink's Diva-tastic temp was around.

Romeo let himself into the shop while Dōjima was (presumably) taking her final, and leaned against the counter. Eventually, he found the stack of forms and started filling one out.

After her Spying class (which she was really going to miss), Yurika returned to the store and let herself in with the key Tink-sensei had lent her.

Seeing Romeo at the counter, she lit up. "Well now, where'd you come from?"

"My mother would have said heaven," Romeo answered, leaning forward for a kiss hello. "I shall be more dull, and tell you the gun range. But I did remember I promised a lunch."

"That you did, but hopefully lunch isn't from the gun range," she teased, slinging her arms around his waist and returning the kiss. "How did religions go?"

He let the kiss linger for a moment, then shook his head. "The Chinese place. It didn't occur to me to try to hunt our meal..."

"Religions was fine, just multiple choice. It was as if Biff decided to be sane to confound us. How was spying?"

"Oh, thank the spirits you're here!" Sokka told Romeo as he rushed into the store holding a bottle. "I'm really, really sorry I annoyed you, and here's a pretty expensive bottle of Scotch for you, and please please please what does Mel's dress look like? I want to surprise her with a complimenting outfit."

Gifts of expensive scotch were not a bad way to get Romeo to drop a grudge, really, and he managed a smile for Sokka as the bottle went to live with its companions under the counter.

"Short," he told Sokka. "She wouldn't give up the combat boots. Full skirt. Mostly black, with some red assuming she went with the one she linked me to in email, since we didn't finish the thread. She'll look amazing and it shouldn't be too hard to match, really."

He raised a careful eyebrow. "We do have tuxedos here ..." He might as well make a sale while he waited for the girlfriend, after all.

Sokka was imagining Mel in a short skirt and combat boots, and would probably need a minute to get the stupid grin off his face.

Romeo grinned at Sokka's grin; it was kind of cute, to see him so lost. "Classy," he repeated. "The double-breasted shawl is nice, or this ivory one, and of course there's the classic three-button. And we've loads more if you point me toward what you like."

"You don't have to fill out the form, Rikku," Dōjima said dryly from where she was flipping through a magazine. "I'm well acquainted with your sense of style."

"I totally didn't realize you worked here, you know," Rikku said, bouncing on her toes. "And I'm bored with my sense of style. I started doing the orange thing 'cause it's bright and sunny and now it feels like it's all predictable or whatever. I mean, there are other bright sunny colors, you know?"

"Actually? I don't. But Tink-sensei offered a free A to anyone who covered a Prom shift, and I figured it couldn't hurt. Besides, this way no one ends up with my dress," she said, putting the magazine aside. "So, does this mean I get to dress you up?"

Rikku fidgeted. "I, uh. Maybe? I get to say no, right? I want to look ... I dunno. Like I'm not just splashing orange on something or playing dress-up, I mean, I wanna look nice, you know?"

Dōjima found the form as she was cleaning up from lunch, and glanced around the store. "Sokka!" she hollered, "You still here?"

Boys could show skin too. This was almost a dare.

Sokka's head popped up, prairie-dog-like, from the back of the store, where he was taking forever to decide between two nearly-identical pairs of shoes.

"Hey!" he called, waving one of the pairs over his head. "Do these make my ankles look fat?"

"Yes," she called back, "they totally do." The grin on her face, however, was completely teasing.

"And you can too show skin, just buy a shirt that you can leave partially unbuttoned."

That's the less bitchy edited version of her form. The original was much more involved, and ended up looking like the card from our bingo game. This is easier.
