Fast Eddie's, Sunday afternoon

For Dean, the answer to entertaining two kids and keeping them (relatively) out of trouble was to take them to a pool hall. Or a bowling alley that had pool tables, same thing.

"So," he said, as they made their way inside, "We all understand the rules, right? No setting things on fire and no running off to face kelpies or gremlins or whatever."

Jake rolled his eyes. "Yeah, yeah, Dad. We're not stupid. We know."

"Just making sure." Dean looked around. "What do you want to do first? Bowling, video games or pool?"

[ooc: Dean's here with his progeny, but open for all your bowling and pool hustling playing needs]

"Pool!" Sparky waved both hands in the air, and bounced on her toes. "I can play, I can play!" She nodded hard, then paused. "I can use Mommy rules, right?"

"I can push the ball with my brain just a little bit, but I can't set fire to the table," Sparky sing-songed. "And only if I tell first!"

"If she can do that, then I can use my transgenic reflexes," Jake put in.

"Well, yeah," Jake said with a big grin. "But just wanted to make it clear."

"What's transgenic?" Sparky asked, picking up a ball and rolling it on the felt. She wasn't sure about this brother thing, but he was a lot like Daddy, so he had to be pretty cool. "And it's okay if I get to do the mind-moving."

[identity profile] weechesters.livejournal.com 2008-04-27 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm a transgenic," Jake said. "Like Alec."

"Do you drink milk milk milk too?" Sparky asked, picking up a cue and almost beaning herself with it. Well, it was taller than she was. "Can you jump over buildings?"

She was really sure Alec could do that. He was like Daddy. If Daddy were Really Strong Guy Who Flies!

"I wouldn't go that far," Jake said. He paused then added, "Though we're still going for milkshakes after, right?"

[identity profile] weechesters.livejournal.com 2008-04-27 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)
"Milkshakes!" Sparky shouted. "Chocolate swirl milkshakes! Please," she added in her indoor voice. "Jake, you can be on my team if you want."

[identity profile] weechesters.livejournal.com 2008-04-27 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Sparky gave him a hug as she picked up her cue again. "Yes! But if we're against Jake it won't be fair." She frowned up at him. "Can we all be on the same team?"

[identity profile] weechesters.livejournal.com 2008-04-27 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yay!" For cookies, Sparky totally wanted to beat Jake. "I'll break!"

[identity profile] weechesters.livejournal.com 2008-04-27 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
"You totally want us to let her win, don't you?" Jake asked quietly as Sparky set up her shot.

[identity profile] weechesters.livejournal.com 2008-04-27 10:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Sparky was missing out on this, her tongue sticking out of her mouth as she slowly slowly slooooowly pulled back the cue, then slammed it forward. About half the balls flew away, with the other half unmoving. Still, a few got really close to the pockets.

Sparker snuck her dad a sneaky look, and one of the blue stripes dropped into a pocket. "Stripes!"

[identity profile] weechesters.livejournal.com 2008-04-27 10:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Sparky tried to look innocent in a way that completely failed at the definition. "I'm practicing!" She tried to hit another ball, and completely skidded the cue off the cueball. "Mommy's better at this." She marched over to stand by her dad, pouting.

[identity profile] weechesters.livejournal.com 2008-04-27 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
"I knoooow. I was trying to start the fire in the cabin we were staying at, in Maine? And I kinda set the table on fire. And that's why there's a Not Inside The House rule." Sparky leaned on her cue, and made faces at Jake, then looked up at her dad. "Mommy said she learned stuff here in Fandom first. And you were her Big Brother, but not really. For pretend. Is Jake my pretend Big Brother?"

[identity profile] weechesters.livejournal.com 2008-04-27 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yuh-hunh." Sparky nodded hard. "'Cause your mommy went to Heaven when you were little, and Grampa married Grandma Zoe, and she said I could call her that even if it isn't 'technically true.'"

[identity profile] weechesters.livejournal.com 2008-04-27 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
"Okay. So if Alec is his other daddy--" Like Heather and her two mommies, from the book, Sparky guessed. "Who's his mommy?" She bounced in place a little, watching Jake shoot, distracted by the game again. Mommy Rules said she couldn't move *other* people's ball. Or move a ball to be in the way. Or move the cue ball. "Way too many rules."

[identity profile] weechesters.livejournal.com 2008-04-27 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Jake sighed and covertly rolled his eyes, but deliberately aimed just left of the pocket on his next shot. "Whoops."

[identity profile] weechesters.livejournal.com 2008-04-27 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Sparky had been scowling at Jake, and thinking maybe she could move the whole table. There weren't any rules about the table. (Mostly because she couldn't move anything that big.)

When he missed though, she brightened and bounced over to the cue ball. "You did great, Jake! My turn!"
