The Arms Hotel Lobby, Wednesday [5/7]

Mary was at the front desk today. She was a little subdued by the fact that George Michael suddenly announced last night that he was going home to visit his family. Every time he went back to see them, she got a little worried. What if they wanted him to stay?

George Michael showed up to see Mary at work. Which might come as a surprise given the fact that he was not at work himself, and that he never visited Mary at work.

But... there he was.

Mary was definitely surprised to see him. "Hey sweetie," she said, giving him a weak smile. "What are you doing here?"

"I've... I've come to tell you something, Mary," he said.

This didn't sound good, thought Mary.

"What is it, George Michael?" she asked.

"I've... I'm not going home. I am not going to visit my family and exclude you. I'm a man, Mary. I want to marry you and make babies. Are you ready? Let's go. Let's go now."

Mary just looked confused for a moment, because she was almost entirely sure that he came to say that he wasn't ready to get married after all. But when he said the exact opposite, a smile slowly spread across her face, and she came out from behind the desk to hug him.

"That is the most wonderful thing you have ever said to me," she said.

He pulled her to him, hugging her close, kissing her temple. "Let's go, Mary. Now. Let's pack our bags and go... we we're going off tomorrow anyway, right? Spontenaiety rules, right?"

"I like that idea," said Mary. "If I start sitting here planning the perfect wedding, I don't think it will ever happen. Do you... do you just want to get married on the beach or something?"

"Perfect Mary," he said, grinning. "There doesn't need to be planning, there just needs to be us, leaving..." he wrapped his hand around hers. "You sure, right?"

"Very sure," said Mary. "I've been sitting here wondering about what happened last night, and thinking that I could give up the house, the dog, the cat, and the white picket fence so you would stay with me and wouldn't be so freaked out."

"I'm not freaked out," he said, pausing. "Okay, maybe for a second. But I thought about it and I realized, I want all of that and I want all of that with you. Forever. I don't want to give any of it up because I'm afraid of what my family might say. I want you, Mary. Just you."

"And I want you too. The rest of the stuff isn't as important to me," said Mary. "Do you want to just have a nice, quiet, low-key wedding tomorrow on the beach? Just us and no one else?"

"Do you want to invite anyone?" he asked, watching her carefully.

"As far as I'm concerned, the only person who needs to be there is you," said Mary.

"What about a witness?" George Michael thought a witness had to be there besides the one marrying them.

"Do we need one to get married in Greece?" asked Mary. "I've seen tons of couples get married in Las Vegas without a witness, or if they wanted one, the chapel just had extra staff stand in."

"Yeah, I don't know about these things, Mary," he shouldn't have to remind her that he was only nineteen. He only married once before. No big deal. There was a room full of old people to witness it. That was a reminder that he just didn't need to picture right now.

"You know what you're doing though so I will trust you."

It was okay. Mary had a plan.

"We'll stop at the city hall first thing tomorrow and see what the rules for getting married in Greece," said Mary. "If it's too much of a hassle, we can always take the portal back to Virginia and quickly get married there, since they're a bit more lenient."

"Excellent," he said. "Can you leave work now?"

"Let me have a word with Gunther, and then I'll run upstairs and pack," said Mary.

"Excellent," he said again. This was the best day ever. Well, second best if you consider what tomorrow will be like. But whatever. He was grinning like a huge dork.

Mary liked seeing him grin.

"I'm all yours, sweetheart," said Mary. "I'm ready to go whenever you are."

He took her hand and led her towards the elevators. "I have to change first and since I have to do that I was thinking..." he gave her a decidely wicked look, one that was relatively new on his face. "You know..."

[yeah, Michael Cera doesn't do wicked looks. Hee! Sorry!]

"You were thinking I could tend to those rug burns on your knees?" suggested Mary with a smile.

"Yes, that's it. My rug burns. They.. hurt. And you could check them out for me. Don't want them to be too terribly painful on my wedding day, you know."

"Another advantage to getting married on a beach. No need for an uncomfortable tux," said Mary, giggling.

"That's right. What should I wear?" he asked.

"If we're going to be on the beach, you could wear swim trunks and I'll wear a little white bikini," said Mary.

His grin grew wide. "Perfect, Mary. No shoes, no socks, no tie. It couldn't get any better than that."

Around on and off today, and then definite SP after 5 PM.
