The Boards, Tues [5/13]

Geoffrey had had his play. At this point, he had a Titus Andronicus without a Titus and that was beyond not good, exceeding most certainly not good. Geoffrey supposed he couldn't fault the boy for taking it; on the surface, anyway, it looked like madness not to go. But as far as he was concerned, madness is what he should have pursued. Madness was at the heart of acting, the heart of art. Or rather, not madness but what could have been perceived as madness. The boy had gone to New York to learn how to act.

Geoffrey would have let him teach himself.

That said, the show must go on. And so, there was rehersal.

The sign was out front as per usual, ragged and ridiculous as ever. Written below it was the important bit, though.

He awaited his actors (and any others who wanted to join him!)

"Possibly," he replied. "I have only gotten a bit into the story." He waggled the book copy he'd brought with him. "But I am finding Titus to be an intriguing character."

"Oh?" he said, as if this might be an entirely novel idea, "how so?"

"The way he casually wishes to sacrifice Tamora's sons, yet begs for the life of his own children. Which occurs after he slays one of his own. I think perhaps Titus has seen far too much war. Almost as if there is some part of him that cannot make peace and so he continues to fight."

"Unfortunately, since there are no enemies to be had, he winds up fighting his own family."

He looked expectantly at G'kar.

G'Kar looked back at his book. "I see. I was under the impression that Saturninus and Titus were related. My apologies. I am still very early in this. And this is not a form of human language I am accustomed to reading."

He shook his head.

"No, you might not be wrong. It all depends on the reading of the character."

He put his hands together and pressed his lips to them for a moment before pulling them away.

"How about this? How about you finish the play and you come by, say, Thursday and we'll talk about it, hmm? That should give you enough time."
