The Arms Hotel Lobby, Wednesday [5/14]

When Mary walked into the lobby, Gunther looked at her suspiciously. "Vhat are you doing here? The other girl works today," he said.

"Oh, I talked to Hoshi and we switched days," explained Mary. "That way George Michael and I both have the same day off."

Gunther didn't seem happy about it. He stomped off to the kitchen, muttering in German.

Who is browsing the Portalocity site for deals on a portal to Las Vegas

Stan walked in, expecting to nab a quick bite.

Mary was frowning. The best deal she could get on a portal would get her into Pahrump only, requiring additional transportation to Las Vegas itself.

"Hey Stan," she said when she finally looked up. "How much do you think it would cost to get a couple airline tickets from Greece to Las Vegas?"

"I'm not sure...is this a rush? I may be able to pull some connections." He was a bit perplexed.

"No rush. I just want to get married, eventually," said Mary. "And Vegas makes it really easy to get married, plus my family is there. The only hard part is getting from here to there."

He smiled. "Is there a time frame you have in mind? It may take me a day or so, if you're looking for something this weekend or sooner."

"Well, we haven't tried to set a date again," said Mary. "I'm no hurry. I'd rather get it right this time than mess up again."

"Always a good idea," he said, dryly. "So what are the plans?"

"We're going to head to Las Vegas, hit City Hall right away, get a marriage license, get married, spend the night there and come back the next morning," said Mary. "Maybe, if we get a chance, I want him to meet my little sisters, too."

"That sounds nice. And very low key," he said with a wink. "I didn't know you had sisters," he stated.

The wink might have been a big excessive, especially since they were discussing Mary getting married next week to someone else.

"I do, actually," she replied. "My dad had two little girls from his second marriage. They're seven and five years old."

"Flower girls?" he suggested. "Depending on how big you want this. I suspect that this would not involve Elvis or a drive-thru?"

This has to be the first Wednesday in two months where I'm not closing at work.

And I really need to make a trip to Greektown one of these days.
