The York Gallery; Wednesday [ 05/14 ] -- Exhibit Opening!

Charlotte always found a new exhibit opening to be exciting, and she was a little surprised that she actually wasn't feeling too nervous about this one, either! With the exception of a few of the artist's pastels and wall sculptures, the majority of the Bruce Naigles pieces were scattered aesthetically on the main gallery floor, and her personal favorite took the center position. The table of treats and hors devours was set out, as well as the amazing punch fountain, and everything was ready!

The York Gallery was open!

[[ ocd on the way is up!; be mindful that many of the links will take you to lots of artistic nudity; up early because I have a brief social life tonight, oooh ]]

After his shift at the station, Dale arrived at the gallery and began to visit each piece of art, spending a good bit of time rflecting on them.

Dale looked up from the piece of art he was examining closely and gave Charlotte a grin. "Well, how could I resist? Your secrecy made the exhibit too enticing for me to miss," he said.

"Absolutely," Dale said his attention being drawn to the next item. "These forms are amazing. Of course I probably would have come without the suspense but..."

Dale shrugged and grinned. "It did make me anticipate the exhibit that much more."

Murdock wandered through the gallery, studying the sculptures and paintings.

"Hints?" Dale said looking amused. "Oh, you do know how to reel me in, don't you? And I think your choice for the exhibit is perfect considering the locale. Does the artist strictly work with the human form or has he done other styles?"

He grinned at her. "Guns ain't necessary. Really, I wouldn't have expected them to show up. I don't find them very artistic anyway."

"Choppers on the other hand..." he waggled his eyebrows.

Dale had to smile at that. "He's probably a very astute observer. I've learned to read a person's body language over the years as an investigator. Watching a person for any hidden tells, some unexpressed emotion. That may be why I'm enjoying this particular exhibit so much."

Because he couldn't help feeling like he needed to fill up every moment of his time with things he could do absolutely and utterly by himself, Cal decided to check out the art gallery thing that he read about on the diner bulletin board. Looking at statues and stuff. Cool. He could dig it...

"Can you tell me about the process the artist uses?" Dale asked. "Does the make the molds by hand or does he take them from a model?"

"Yah," he glanced around the gallery, "a bit small to fit one in. Plus you're roof don't open. How the heck would you get it inside?"

"If it was a working scaled model," he mused. "I dunno. I think the bronze would add too much weight. Muck up the lift, not to mention it would throw the balance of the rotors. Assuming you could get it to take off, it'd probably crash pretty horribly. And that would stink."

Dale nodded in agreement. "Most of the forms do conform more to a natural body type than say... well a more exaggerated type. However looking at a good deal of these sculptures, I can't help but think I'd be seeing them at the Smithsonian gallery in DC. They are very much like the those classic sculptures."

"That would be cool! Art with a purpose," he nodded seriously.

"Though I suppose *all* art has a purpose on some levels. Otherwise why have it? The artist is always trying to convey some kind of message. Just a matter of what you interpret that message to be. So its purpose would be to make people think."
