Book Haven: Thursday [5-15-08]

Millie opened the bookstore quite cheerfully and wandered about singing temple songs as she went through the day.

Upon entering the store, Murdock paused and listened to the singing. He went looking for the source. "Hi," he smiled warmly once he'd found Millie, "you do that well."

"I don't think I'm familiar with those tunes. What are they from?"

"Temple? Are you some sort of nun?" He shook his head, "Naw, that doesn't ring any bells for me, sorry."

"Really? That's cool. I used to be an old west gunslinger. One of the good guys of course. And then I was a superhero. Drove a cab. Now I'm just a teacher." He smirked, "That just about requires super skills, don't it?"

Oh hey! She'd didn't get all 'weird looks at the apparent crazy guy' at the mention of the superhero and gunslinger. This could be interesting. "I reckon it takes skill, all I'm doin' is just tryin' to teach what I know. Kind of passin' along a bit of knowledge, like." He grinned, "I hope I have enough patience. Otherwise, I could wind up one frazzled guy in no time flat."

"Teachers always tell you all kinds of things. Mostly to try to keep kids outta trouble. But that don't mean they're always right," he winked.

"Gee, thanks," he mocked, "That makes me feel so much better. Now I'm gonna wonder how often my students are goin' to try to trip me up."

"Flight and flyin'," his eyes lit up, "I love flyin'."

[identity profile] crazypilotman.livejournal.com 2008-05-15 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
"I have been flyin' for years. I can't stand bein' on the ground too long, ya know?" He smiled, "I can arrange that for ya. If you're interested, that is."

He smiled at her reaction. He enjoyed introducing people to the big, wide open sky. "There's the simulated version, where I'll be teaching most of my classes out of. Not real ships, but it does an impressive job of makin' it seem like they are."

"Or I could rustle us up the real thing," he grinned.

He couldn't stop grinning. She was just so eager to go flying that it was making him giddy. Flying was always best when you were doing it with someone who enjoyed it. "Then how 'bout both? We could do a run in the simulator, just to get you used to it and then go for the real thing."

He smiled back, "Aw, it ain't nothin'. Just bein' friendly like."

Murdock smiled down at her. She was just so happy about it all, it was rather catching. "Then consider it done, my lady," he bowed slightly with a bit fanfare, "Whensth thou havest free time, I shall take thee."

[identity profile] crazypilotman.livejournal.com 2008-05-16 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
"Hey, that works out real well," he grinned. "I got class on Thursday afternoons so I'm all busy then. Nothin' else I got planned at the moment." His face scrunched up a bit as he thought, "Of course, for the simulator, another teacher may need it, so it might be best to shoot for a weekend day or in the evening."

"How 'bout tomorrow night or Sunday?"

[identity profile] crazypilotman.livejournal.com 2008-05-16 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
"Sweet!" he grinned back. "I'll get somethin' real nice worked out for ya. It'll be awesome!"

[identity profile] crazypilotman.livejournal.com 2008-05-16 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
"Coffee would be to die for right about now," he winked. "And maybe a book. You got anything on spacecraft? I think I might need to read up on that subject."

[identity profile] crazypilotman.livejournal.com 2008-05-16 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
"I think I'll start with the ones that are real. I'll get into theorotical ones sometime later."

"Usually I just drink it black."

[identity profile] crazypilotman.livejournal.com 2008-05-16 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
Cup in hand, he followed her. Looking them over, he grinned. "Oh yah, baby! I think those will be perfect. Should help me out with my class planning greatly."

He smiled at her, "Thanks. You've been an awesomely great help."

[identity profile] crazypilotman.livejournal.com 2008-05-16 02:51 pm (UTC)(link)
He looked rather surprised as well. "We didn't? Oh, shoot. I'm HM Murdock. Most folks just call me Murdock, though."

"All fixed now. Guess we got so caught up in flyin' we kinda forgot the intros," he grinned. "And it is definitly a pleasure to meet you, Millie."

[identity profile] crazypilotman.livejournal.com 2008-05-16 07:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Little or not, the blush was noticeable. It made her look so durn cute too. And didn’t she just say that it was nice to meet him? He chuckled a little. “Nice to know we agree on somethin’ already.”

It was then his watch rudely beeped at him. “Oh dangit, I can’t believe it got so late already.” He smiled sheepishly, “I gotta get runnin’, darlin’. Otherwise, I’ll be late for my own durn class.”

“But I’ll be seein’ you tomorrow (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomtownies/2793787.html). And here, he may have reddened just a little.
