Wellspring Arms and Meditation Center, Friday

Rikku bounced into work, totally on time and all of that good stuff ~~shhh she was~~. Hooray, luau tonight! Hooray, classes were sweet. Hooray, work, with meditation and guns!

Wellspring Arms was open, and Rikku was chipper.

She's here. And she is real darn perky.

Worf entered the Arms in his usual manner and nodded at the girl behind the counter.

"Hello. I am Worf. Is anyone using the meditation centre?"

Rikku ... stared back. At the new guy. Oooooooohkay.

"Hiya. I am Rikku. Of the Al Bhed. Probably not, unless Cable's in there. You're .... new, aren't you?"

"I'm 17 years old," Worf said gruffly, "But yes. I am new to this... town."

"That's what I meant!" Rikku chirped. "New here. 'Cause if you were new totally, you'd be little and not moving around much. Like Cable's baby. She's adorable. Have you seen her?"

"That would make sense," Worf said gruffly. "And yes. The baby. Adorable... for a human."

"You're not human?" Rikku asked, leaning against the counter. "Oh. I guess I should've guessed, with the forehead-thingy. But you look human other than that, you might've just been a mutant or something. Or it could've been an accident. Like you were ten and riding a bike and you hit your head on something really, really weird and it healed funny."

Rikku, when hyper, made less sense than usual.

Worf stared at Rikku for a moment trying to absorb all of that.

"I am Klingon," he stated. "Not a mutant. Or a bicycle accident victim. I assure you."

"Oooh, okay," Rikku nodded. "I've never heard of Klingons. I'm an Al Bhed, that's why my pupils are all wonky."

See, they were sharing abnormalities. Bonding.

"How are you adjusting? To Fandom and all, I mean. Kinda weird place."

"It is... different," Worf replied. "I was raised by humans but even then I did not expect some of the difficulties I've had here in this place."

"This place isn't normal for humans," she explained quickly. "It's kind of a dimensional thingy. Point. Where a lot of things converge and weirdness just happens. It's not normal for anybody. It's just Fandom."

"That seems to be a common explanation for this... place," Worf bristled. "I for one was not supposed to be here. Some alien being sent me here instead of Starfleet Academy. It has left me slightly... vexed."

"You can't get back?" Rikku frowned. "People here have spaceships. Maybe one of them knows how to find your home."

"So far, no one I know is from my universe," Worf replied. "And from my understanding this being that sent me here won't let me leave."

"That's awful," she said softly. "We should get people and go kick his ass."

Some horrible dictator was keeping this guy here? They should Stop That.

"That may not be possible," Worf said. "He does not appear to be one that you can fight with conventional methods. However, I appreciate the sentiment."

"Any time," Rikku nodded. "And unconventional methods help, some times. If you ever wanna go after him, we can get some people on it, it'll be awesome."

Saving the world was practically a hobby around here.

"The last time I ran into him he put me in... a television sitcom," Worf replied. "It's tough to do battle with someone who can alter reality."

That stopped her for a few seconds.

"Okay, that would make things hard, yeah," she nodded. "You sure he's not from here, or something?"

"He can disappear with the snap of his fingers," Worf replied. "I doubt he is even humanoid. Or has a true physical form."

"So ... he could be anybody here, showing up to mess with you." She frowned. "Whoa. Creepy thought. I'm not him, honest."

For starters, he probably made more sense, when he talked.

"Considering you are not mocking me or saying disdainful things about Klingons," Worf replied. "I tend to believe that."

"He says bad things about your people?" Rikku folded her arms. "Are you sure we can't beat him up? I mean that's just ... don't listen to him. People like that, they just ... they want to go, oh, hey, you and everyone like you are Bad, so that they can feel better about themselves. It's total crap, and people like that suck."

"Yes," Worf agreed. "This particular entity does suck. Totally."

"Just remember that," she said, taking a deep breath. "It's about them, and not you. It's about them needing to feel better than someone, and your people being a handy target. That's all it ever is."

She waved vaguely to the back. "And I'm rambling at you when you came in to use the Meditation Room. It's a nice room. There are plants and things."

"That is a good thing to remember," Worf said after he had digested all of it.

And then he said something very rare. "Thank you."

And then walked into the meditation chamber.
