The York Gallery; Wednesday [ 05/21 ]

Charlotte couldn't have been in a better mood when she came down to open the gallery today. Well, she could have, but, for all intents and purposes, it was a good thing she wasn't because anything more would have just been a little frightening.

The current exhibit was still up and showing, although Charlotte was a little sad that it no longer seemed as thematic, and there's also a tasteful sign in the corner of the window advertising openings in employment.

The York Gallery is open.

Charlotte may be busy behind her computer, but she never minds a distraction. Even if she is managing to actually work and not get distracted by online shopping.

Murdock hated to leave things hanging. And he’d certainly done that *quite* well the last time he spoke with Charlotte. Spotting her behind the desk, he strolled over, unconsciously stuffing his hands in pockets. "Hey."

Glancing up from her computer, Charlotte met the greeting with a bright smile. "Murdock, hi! Come in for another glance around the exhibit? I'm sorry to say there are still no planes involved."

He couldn't help but grin slightly, "That's alright. I seen plenty o' planes as it is. But I wanted to stop by because...I think I left a little rudely the last time." Rocking on his heels slightly, he took a distinct interest in the floor.

"Sorry 'bout that."

Charlotte's head tilted a little, her forehead wrinkled with a bit of confusion. "Rudely? When? At the opening?" She was pretty sure that that was the last time they'd talked. To be honest, though, everything before this weekend had slipped into a little bit of a blur, felt like ages ago.

"Yes?" Now, he was confused. He’d thought he’d been rude, but apparently Charlotte didn’t think so or else she’d forgotten. Or, more likely as it was with many other things, it was all in his head.

Charlotte's eyes shifted a little to the side as she tried to recall up last Wednesdays. Gallery openings were so busy, and she couldn't recall much beyond bouncing around and talking to many, many of the guests, as is fitting of a good hostess. She remembered talking about the planes and the guns, and...something else that was a bit of awkwardness, but, in classic Charlotte style, she couldn't remember because she had just tried to brush it aside as not have happened. And then he excused himself so that she could get back to work, or something like that. It was all quite regular, it seemed, to her.

She shook her head lightly. "I don't recall you being rude, Murdock," she told him with a light, encouraging smile, "but thank you for the apology all the same, even if it wasn't really necessary. It was a nice thought."

Oh! Okay. It was all just him then. Typical. "Welcome!" he grinned back. "Just glad we got that all cleared up." Whatever *it* was. "How’s everything else goin’ for ya?”"

"Very well," Charlotte enthused with a bright nodding of her head. "Thank you! Absolutely no complaints. Yourself?"

Finally making his way out of the shop for a a little as he went to pick up more coffee and some pizza-- Breakfast of champions-- Tony paused at the whole gallery thing.

Kind of a small town for one of these, wasn't it?

So he just stopped in, looking around and not making any comments as he had yet to notice Charlotte.

Charlotte hadn't exactly, at first, noticed the man having drifted in, either; she was frowning, head tilted, at her computer screen, trying to think of what might have been the politest way to express that, yes, while she certainly appreciated ingenuity and creativity in revolutionizing the artist world, she did not feel that the art of vomit splatters was going to catch on any time soon, nor did she find them to be in the least bit "Pollack-esque" and, therefor, must decline the offer for an exhibit.

No. Absolutely not. She sighed heavily as she sent the response finally, shaking her head, and feeling thankful that not even that could have seemed to have put a damper on her mood, although it did leave her rather confused.

And then she looked up. "Oh! Hello," she smiled when she spotted the man and hoped he hadn't been standing there long. "Welcome to the York Gallery; may I help you with anything?"

Oh, there was someone actually there. Some very nice looking one at that.

Tony smiled, stepping forward toward the desk and her. "Hello there. York Gallery? I thought this town was too small for something like this."

Charlotte shrugged a slight, modest sort of shoulder. "It probably is, from a business perspective," she admitted, "but it's really just a pet project of mine. It seems to have made at least a little bit of a splash with the community, though, so it's been successful so far."

Even profitable, which she hadn't expected, but it turned out hiring Eve with her rich uncle had been an exceptionally good mood.

"A pet project?" Tony asked, leaning forward a little on the desk. "It's a very professional one."

"Well," Charlotte's beaming grin counteracted the modesty that she tried to put into her casual little shrug, "I love doing it. It's no where near the experience of owning a gallery in New York, but this is nice. Quiet. Much more relaxing, that's for sure..."

Kevin noticed the sign advertising employment opportunities, so he decided to walk in and see what kind of place this York Gallery was.

No, he didn't bother putting his shirt back on.

And that...certainly inspired a tilt of Charlotte's head. A bit of blinking, too, and, well...it wasn't like the view was bad. Not bad at all, in fact.

"Nice day out?" she guessed.

"Huh? Oh," he glanced down at his chest and smiled. "It's not bad." It was actually a little chilly, but he had been jogging earlier and the fabric of his t-shirt tended to chafe his nipples.

"So, you make statues?" he asked, nodding towards some of the art pieces.

Charlotte hastened to remind herself that there was a good chance that this boy was probably at least half her age. Which, as it turned out, did a poor job of convincing her to stop appreciating the view. Really, it wasn't terribly professional or sanitary having shirtless guys in your place of business, but she did have naked statues, so it was a bit of a conundrum.

She chuckled a little at the question, shaking her head. "Oh, no," she said. "I just display and sell them. The artist of this particular piece is a man by the name of Bruce Naigles. Beautiful, aren't they?"

"They're very... naked," he said, his head tilting to the side because that seemed to be how people viewed art critically.

"Boobs just kinda look funny when they're hanging out like that, don't you think?" Yes, this was his professional opinion.

"I...I honestly haven't....thought about it," Charlotte admitted, her head tilting in a gesture of interest in his opinion, although her wide eyes betrayed her a bit with a hint of feeling scandalized. Really, they were nudes, yes, but breasts would have been a much...less objectionable term. And it had her drawing her arms in front of her a little as she leaned slightly forward on the desk, because there was a good chance that the models of some of those with their breasts just hanging out like that were also probably at least half her age, and she couldn't help feeling a little self-conscious about her own, modestly covered (thank you very much!).

"Well, not that they're not, you know, b-beautiful and... whatever," he said pointing to the closest set. "I mean, I can appreciate the artyness of it."

He scratched the back of his head. "So, you're hiring?" he asked.
