Caritas - Tuesday Evening [Open]

All the berets that Donut had bought went mysteriously missing. Donut suspected Tino. There was only one way to confirm his suspicions.

"Hey, Tino. Did you throw away all those berets I bought?" Donut asked.

"Yes."

Donut crossed his arms over his chest and stomped his foot on the floor. "Why are you so mean?!"

Juli slipped in fairly early and got her regular martini from Tino. She sipped it and sighed faintly. After class today? She felt she deserved the drink.

"Beer me, Tino." Mary figured that canceling the wedding was enough of an excuse for falling off the wagon.

Mike was in the lounge sipping his own beer while waiting for someone.

"If there's going to be a lecture, I don't want to hear it," said Mary, sitting down with Mike, beer in hand.

"The last time you came to me with relationship problems, George Michael got upset," said Mike, raising an eyebrow.

"He got upset because I slept on the couch. That's not going to happen this time," said Mary. "As long as I make it home okay, I'm fine."

"So, let's start at the beginning. From what I got from the radio, he told you that he doesn't want to get married?" asked Mike, frowning slightly.

"His father talked him into going to college and convinced him that I'm too old to go with him, or something like that," said Mary. She sipped at her beer, wincing at the taste.

George Michael decided to get drunk. Tino obliged him by fixing him two tall glasses of long island iced tea.

George Michael had not yet seen his ex-fiance.

After getting a voicemail (http://ltcolkirk.livejournal.com/1233.html?thread=1815249#t1815249) from Anakin, John decided the bar was a good place for him to hide out and formulate a plan. "You don't know any way to block the Force, do you?" John asked no one in particular, gulping a Tino-given beer gratefully.

"Are you guys breaking up over this?" asked Mike.

"No, we're not," said Mary. "I told him that if he wants to go to college or join the family business, I'll go with him. I'm hoping he'll change his mind about getting married but... but I'm starting to wonder if I'm doing the right thing."

Mike chuckled. "Honestly? I've never seen you stick to someone like this. You dumped Danny. You turned down that lawyer guy when he proposed. You dumped Casey by cell phone because his security people had him in a secure location. If you're willing to stick with George Michael until he comes around, then I think you really are doing the right thing."

Johnny was at the bar, enjoying a beer. Mmm, beer.

Mary gave him a weak smile. "Thanks, Mike. So how about you? I need to focus on something else here besides how awful my love life seems to be," she said, finishing off her beer.

"'Scuse me, but would you be interested in purchasing a wedding dress?" asked Mary.

"Things are pretty good," said Mike, smiling. "I'm having a lot of fun with my summer workshop, and getting to do some international traveling without leaving home? What's not to love?"

"But there's no one, you know, kinda special in your life?" asked Mary.

"I'm enjoying the bachelor lifestyle for now," said Mike, smirking.

...well, that was unexpected.

Juli took a long swallow of her martini before answering. "I was married once," she said. "And I've no intentions of marrying again. Why?"

"It was that bad, huh?" asked Mary. "My fiancé got cold feet so there's not going to be a wedding."
