Luke's Diner, Sunday

Vala was finding that both this new location and job suited her very well, and if she couldn't return to the Louvre again, well, these things occasionally happened. Okay, maybe more than occasionally if you got caught videotaping and taking pictures of the security measures, but it was an occupational hazard and not too worrying in the long run. Shame about the lost cameras, though.

Not that they'd been hers, but that was hardly the point. The information in them would have been very helpful if she'd gone universe-hopping.

Ah, well.

In any event, Luke's was open for business. Vala perched on a stool and had a large cup of coffee and some toast while she waited for customers.

Specials:

Hamburger with French fries
Tossed salad with French dressing
Croque Monsieur

[ooc: Will be out for a few hours, but then I'll be back, I promise!]

Two weeks off the coast of France still apparently wasn't enough time for Mohinder to predict the showers, and head down, collar up he ducked into the nearest open door.

"A salad, please," he said, as the specials caught his eye. Rummaging through his pockets... Ah. Still looking at his wallet, Mohinder tucked the brightly coloured notes away, "I don't suppose you take euros, do you?" he asked hopefully.

"I can always hope," said Mohinder with a smile. "And if you can give me coffee for them, I'd appreciate it."

"Cream, no sugar, thank you," Mohinder answered, taking a quick glance at her drink, "And another for yourself," he offered. "Fine. Classes aren't taking up too much time, and if France isn't as warm as Greece the scenary is certainly striking."

"Perhaps." Mohinder wrapped his fingers around his cup. "We may even find ourselves back in Virginia. Although, however beautiful the countryside, I'd prefer to be on the island when that happens. Have you seen much of our new surroundings?"

"You could try visiting somewhere with less enthusiastic security. Though at least you weren't arrested?" said Mohinder. She'd have mentiond that. Probably. "Just Bayeux and Normandy. I haven't ventured as far as Paris. Was your trip worth it?"

"Just those guarding treasured works of art," he answered dryly, before taking another sip of coffee. "No, I saw the tapestry, but it was simply a chance to enjoy the local pastries and cider while refreshing my French."

"A woven depiction of a successful invasion almost one thousand years ago." Then, knowing his audience, Mohinder added. "It's well known and not at all portable."

"It was," Mohinder nodded, grinning. "Seeing how things have changed. And being grateful I don't have to wear a suit of armour. They looked very uncomfortable."

"Thank you," said Mohinder, picking up a fork and twiisting it into his salad. "They looked heavy enough to stop you dashing anywhere. And the visor might be a problem." One which he illustrated with a forkful of greens.

"I'm sure you could manage it if anyone could. Maybe with oil for your hinges?" Mohinder suggested.

"And then there would be rust issues." Mohinder gave a shrug. "I'm sure you look better - and quieter - in your current dress."

"Isn't that a hazard in your chosen profession?" asked Mohinder, almost straightfaced, before answering her. "Well; so far no-one has needed their new first-aid skills, though I don't know how long that will last. Is your change of career," and here he waved a fork, "working out?"
