Trooper Station: Wednesday

Dale is behind his desk drinking what had to be his third cup of coffee for the morning as well as eating his sixth doughnut. For once he had let the endless trail of paperwork get a head of him and he's not making a distinct effort to make sure it gets finished today.

Not that he wouldn't appreciate any interruptions.

It was a shame that Roy showed up with a small stack of more papers. He knocked lightly on the door, not waiting to enter. "Morning, Cooper."

"Good Morning Sheriff," Dale said looking up. "How are you doing this fine morning?"

"Pretty good," he replied, dropping the files onto Dale's desk. "Take your time with these, things seem to be rather calm lately... Not counting the ponies and running noses."

"Then obviously you haven't dealt with any of the reports regarding the missing underwear," Dale replied. "All the NPC citizens are just a tad upset."

"Huh," he paused, having heard the radio. "That would explain the size of my inbox." Not that he seemed particularly worried. "I should get to that later."

"Avoiding more paperwork?" Dale teased.

"If it's important I trust my staff to inform me immediately," he said with a grin. "Anything that has the time to be written up on paper can wait a bit longer."

Well, not entirely, but he had an image to keep up. Being considered a slacker had its advantages. It meant he sometimes got to really slack off.

Dale snorted in amusement. "Anything you say Sheriff. Going to take some time off to visit the new tropical location?"

"Probably, Aly and I have been visiting the other places so it seems silly to break a good habit now." He smirked, eye lighting up as he finally had the chance to pester Dale back.

"How about you? Will you be taking your girl out?"

"I wouldn't exactly call her mine" Dale said with a smirk. "She is her own woman and not one that I can claim for myself. However, yes I assume we will find some time to visit this paradise before/if the island moves again."

"Of course," Roy said easily. "As long as the end result is that you're enjoying yourself." Strange how he never told Havoc that.

"We both are," Dale said leaning back in his chair. "Though last weekend I skipped over doing my paperwork and got a bit behind. You and Aly seem to be closer than ever. Any future plans?"

Roy waved it off. "It's paperwork." Funny how most people didn't seem to agree with his philosophy. "Very subtle change of subject too." He may have been avoiding an answer.

"Actually it was a pretty direct question," Dale grinned. "Which you avoided answering."

"How far in the future are we speaking?" Roy asked. "Because I think we're definitely having dinner tonight."

"How about a year from now?" Dale said enjoying the line of questioning.

Considering that the relationship this far was already a record, the question did make Roy swear a lot and he shook his head. "When you are seeing not-your girl longer, I will ask these questions to you and see how you like it," he threatened, but he shrugged a shoulder. "There's no plans, we each have our duties and we'll see where they take us."

Dale smirked. "What makes you think I'd mind those questions?"

"I can ask them now if you don't," he shot back.

"Little early for that but if you check with us down the road..."

Dale grinned and gave Roy his trademarked thumbs up.

Roy chuckled. "You still sound positive."

"Well Roy," Dale said putting his feet up on the table. "I'd have to say that at this point its hard to be negative about anything."

Roy raised an eyebrow, still smirking at Cooper. "You've got it bad."

"Look who's talking," Dale said with a snort of amusement.

"I didn't turn into a morning person or an optimist," Roy argued. So maybe Dale had been one of those two already. Possibly both, but not so much about relationships as far as Roy could tell.

"I thought we were talking about who had it bad?" Dale said with a merry tilt of his head. "Besides I was an optimist and a morning person before I met Charlotte."

"Morning person I'll give you," Roy allowed, "but I don't remember you being optimistic about getting a date."

"Was I an optimist about everything else?" Dale pointed out.
