Park Renovation [6/5, All Day]

Today there were no Pez-flavored bricks. There was once again a Xander, and there were poles.

He picked one up off the ground and planted it in the dirt in front of him like he was claiming the park for England. Or Wales or whereverthehell his ancestors had actually invaded from. He pointed. "Not for dancing. For swinging -- after you make 'em into swings, otherwise you'd just fall on your ass."

He set the pole down and reached for one of the connecting pieces to show people how to put it all together, then paused. "Not that I'm gonna stop you if you want to dance. Whatever. Just wear a hardhat."

There were also hardhats.

There are poles, connectors, tools, and a loooooong explanation from Xander on how to put said stuff together into a swingset instead of a doorway to a demonic netherworld where the Twinkies taste like cabbage. He's led an interesting life.

Bridge is here and rather cheerfully working on swingset-putting-togetherness.

Also, totally abandoning the uniform jacket, because wool + June + hot weather + physical labour = no.

Stopping for a moment to take a few gulps of gatorade, Bridge looks over in Xander's direction and notices the, ah... supervising. He grins and waves.

Who has his laptop open when he's not putting poles together, and seems to be studiously studying... something. Not that he's going to let you get a look at what.

It was morning and stuff was happening in the park. Coffee in hand, Murdock wandered over, deciding to bug the guy who seemed to be in charge. "How's it goin' so far?"

Xander looked up and quickly half-closed his laptop screen. "Nobody's eaten any of the supplies or managed to summon demons with 'em, so at least they're following directions so far."

"Eating the supplies would be bad," he agreed. "Not mention possibly painful. Demons? Is that really a risk while builing..." he glanced at the supplies, "swing sets?"

He noted the quick hiding of the computer screen. Interesting.

Xander nodded. "You'd be surprised the kind of crap you can accidentally call up by putting stuff in the wrong place at the wrong time and being dumb enough to speak foreign languages in front of the wrong book."

Murdock tried not to stare. Boggling even. "I'll...keep that in mind." Note to self; never speak any foreign language in front of any books ever again. Even if they were just comic books.

Poles. Nice coincidence. Faith stopped to light a cigarette, far enough away that he wasn't gonna think she was snooping on whatever he was studying.

Xander's concentration broke at the familiar-yet-not voice, and his gaze flashed to the tattoo on her arm before looking up to her face. "Hey, tenant girl. How's by you?"

"Pretty good," she said, taking a drag off her cigarette and grinning. "I, uh. Kinda want to install something in my place? But I'm guessin' I need your okay first. Right?"

Check it out, she was being a responsible tenant. Would wonders never cease.

"If it doesn't blow stuff up or make the neighbors go deaf, you're probably good," Xander answered, pushing the laptop aside. "I could even install it for you, depending what it is."
