The Perk [Tuesday, Morning]

Mac'd spent yesterday off the island, and had earned herself a rare tan, so today was a day for relaxing on island. The best place to do that in this heat, at least in her opinion, was a place where she had iced running coffee at her fingertips.

... Or, y'know, at the counter.

After a brief discussion with the barrista over the source of 'that weird smell', Mac found herself a table and a comfy chair and settled in with her laptop for the morning.

"Anyone in particular?" Ron asked raising an eyebrow.

"People," Mac said, somewhat evasively from behind her drink.

"I might just be biased from not really liking half of the population of Neptune."

"And this place makes up for the other half?" Ron joked.

Mac laughed, and nodded firmly. "Exactly."

Ron grinned as he leaned back in his chair, catching a nice cool draft from the AC vent.

"That sounds about right," he said. "There are people I certainly don't miss back home. Though I have to admit I feel a bit out of sorts without some of my friends here."

"You're in a whole different country. I think feeling out of sorts is expected."

"I moved across the country, and had friends here, and still felt weird about it," Mac told him sipping at her drink again.

"Well there's a lot to feel weird about," Ron replied. "Having one's underwear completely disappear can be a bit ridiculous."

"Did you end up naked in a common room?" Mac asked. "Because that was pretty weird."

"Naked in the..."

Ron shook his head vehemently. "No. I wasn't.. Did you?"

"Washing machine rebellion."

That'd be a yes.

Ron's eyes widened a bit. "Er. Was this recently? Because I think I would have remembered that."

"Not lately," Mac clarified.

She snickered at his expression. "The more recent bout of that wasn't quite as dramatic in comparison."

"Figures," Ron said with an overly dramatic sigh. "I'd be the one who gets here after everyone has been naked."

"You realise it might've involved public nudity on your part too, right?" Mac said with a grin.

Ron paled a little. "I don't think anyone needs to see that."

Mac smirked and gave a little shrug.

"Be glad the underwear gnomes at least steal clothes from your drawers, not from you."

"You know," Ron said smirking back. "Considering where I'm from that's still one of the most bizarre sentences I've ever heard."

"I'm going to take that as a good thing," Mac said breaking into another grin.

"You should," Ron said looking pleased with himself. He then nodded at her laptop. "I don't suppose you'd be interested in those security spells I was telling you about?"

Mac paused thoughtfully a moment, purposely pressed save on all her documents and closed it.

"Go for it," she said, pushing it his way.

Ron pulled out his wand and uttered an incantation as he did a swish and flicking gesture at the laptop. There was no visible sign of anything happening and a second later Ron was pushing back at Mac. "That ought to do you for a while," Ron replied. "If anyone tries to touch it, you should hear an buzzing kind of alarm go off. Only you'd be able to hear it though. Also people will tend to overlook it or not notice it as well."

Mac touched the laptop herself, just to see if it did anything. It didn't, funnily enough.

"That, is incredibly awesome," she decided, looking up at Ron with a big smile. "Thanks!"

Ron puffed up a little bit with pride. "Oh," he said trying to sound humble. "It's not big deal. Really."

"It's a big deal to me," Mac told him.

It involved the safety of her MacBook. The thing was like an extra limb to her.

"So now, I need a way to return the favour."

"Well I know we talked about showing how to use a computer," Ron said casting a wary gaze at the computer. "Somehow, I think that would end badly."
