Caritas - Friday evening [Open]

Jolee was expecting a quiet night at the bar, he really was.

And then three mummies walked in. "Can I help you?" he asked. A mummy shuffled slowly towards the bar and handed over a business card.

"The BANDages," Jolee read. "It says you're a 'wrap group.'" The mummy nodded with a low groan. "You want to play here tonight?" The mummy nodded with a low groan. "Sure, why not? The zombies up there will back you up."

The Zombie Band did not seem amused by this.

[OOC: THEME WEEK! The mummies are rappers and it will turn out to be just as bad as you might imagine considering their vocal chords decomposed a few thousand years ago. They're moddable just like the zombies. Have a song? They know it. And they'll rap it. You can either make a request of them or they'll rap it solo.]

Where there are two groups of dead guys who don't seem happy with each other.

Where there's a guy who just put two groups of dead guys onto one stage and another guy who would like it on the record that he had nothing to do with this.

Where there are no guys at all as of my typing this sentence.

Get it? WRAP group?

Steve sat down at the bar, but still seemed kind of distracted by the two groups of dead guys on the stage. He couldn't help but think they were going to rumble or something, and he wanted to be well out of the way of any flying body parts if this happened.

"What can I get you?" Jolee asked as he watched the dead guys, too.

I LOVE IT.

"I think I liked them better as a pop group," Charlotte admitted with a small grin as she found her usual spot at the bar and ordered the usual Cosmo.

*bows*

"Who was a pop group?" Jolee asked as Tino immediately got to work on the Cosmo. He wasn't from around here. And even if he were, he was old. He likely wouldn't know these things at all.

"The zombie band," Charlotte explained, nodding toward them. "Or, well, I guess those are mummies now?" She hadn't noticed the difference until now; it wasn't like she was around here, either, or at least around anywhere where one would notice such things at first glance. "A bit ago, with the New Kids--" She waved her hand. "Oh, never mind. How've you been, Jolee?"

"Ah, the zombies are still back there. The mummies just showed up. Figured I might as well give them a shot," Jolee said. "I'm good. Certainly more entertained than I was before I doubled the number of undead bodies in my bar."

"...That isn't going to violate any zoning codes or anything, is it?" Charlotte asked, with mild concern.

"Probably not. I'm not even sure this town has zoning codes, to be honest," Jolee said.

Charlotta made a small, slightly distasteful sound at that, her expression wrinkling. "I've been wondering that a bit lately, myself," she muttered.

"Any particular reason for that aside from what goes on in this business?" Jolee asked.

"Yeah," Charlotte said, drawing in a breath. "What used to go on at my own business. Did you know that my place used to be a...a..." Her eyes shifted around as if to check what sort of company she was currently in before leaning forward to whisper, "whorehouse?"

"I always thought there was a funny smell coming from that building," Jolee said. "That was before my time. Dammit. I could've gotten a good old man rant going about it if I had the chance."

"There isn't....still a funny smell coming from it, is there?" Charlotte asked, her eyes wide with concern.

She, of course, assumed that the latest lingering scent of ammonia and bleach didn't count.

"Well, I wouldn't call the smell funny," Jolee said.

Oh, dear. This might not be good. Charlotte quickly reminded herself that the man worked with rotting flesh on regular occasion; his sense of smell might be a little skewed.

"What...would you call it?"

"Artistic," Jolee said. Which both didn't mean anything but also lent itself to various interpretations.

Jolee enjoyed messing with young people.

It certainly earned him a bit of a look. "Oh," Charlotte commented, "and I bet you just thought that was hilarious, didn't you?"

"Fairly," Jolee said. "I'm old. It doesn't take much to amuse me."

"A beer," Steve requested. "Domestic. Er. Not domestic to Bali Hai."
