It had been a long weekend for Mary. She had flown to California to make sure she could still visit George Michael (since when did airlines start charging for the first checked bag?) and from there, she rented a car and drove to Las Vegas to spend Father's Day with her stepmother and half-sisters. Her flight from Las Vegas to D.C. was on time, if a little cramped because it seemed nobody wanted to pay to check their bags. She'd made it back to the island just in time to see the lightning and volcano show, and now the island was someplace else entirely. At least this place was keeping her on her toes.
