The Boards - Tuesday - 6/17

Today, Geoffrey had pulled out the costume rack (...the single. rack.) and his box of props. Both were utterly moddable. As people walked in, he directed them to the front.

"All right, everybody, here's what we're going to do here."

He pointed one hand at the box and the other at the rack.

"This is a box of props. And this are some costume pieces. I'm sure you're familiar enough with the idea of costumes and props and everything, standard theatre fare, but as we haven't actually had a production yet and the people from Visa are hunting me down as we speak, this is what we've got.

"Pick one prop and one or two costume pieces that you want for your character. Don't worry about what I'll think about it, don't even think about what fits. Just feel it. Slip into your character's shoes and pick something that you want to use on the stage. Something you want to look at or monologue to or even just... sit on. It's entirely up to you.

"Then I want you to sit in a circle up here on the stage and we'll discuss what you picked as well as a few other things like schedules and performances because we're getting close to that time. All right?"

[ocd up!]

Amber managed to locate a black hooded cloak and thought it was perfect for Tamora. She also found a tiara. Plucking it from the box, she moved away and proceeded to put both on.

Shifting through the items, Cal was looking particularly for something relatively average and unremarkable. Perhaps something that looked used, hand-me-down. Which...was not a problem at all, by the looks of it. He wasn't quite sure what sort of prop he might have. Maybe just a book or something...

Michael picked through the box and came up with a coat he thought looked from the right time period. And a plastic sword.

G'Kar found a red velvet cape that had seen better days. He thought it might work for Titus.

Naomi looked through the box and managed to find a blue shawl that looked appropriate enough.

Sitting down, Amber swirled her cloak around her legs but left the hood down so her tiara could be well seen.

She was actually feeling pretty for someone who was a queen bitch. Probably Tamora felt the same way.

She grinned, sublimely; a bit of wickedness in her look.

"I thought so. Dressed like this, is it hard to believe she is wicked?"

Cal joined the circle, sitting with his long legs folded in front of him. He had forgone his original thought of a book for a plastic red rose that he held between his teeth while he looped the purple sash across his shoulder and chest. He flattened it out a little, then pulled it loose again. Finally, he placed on his head his second costume piece, a simple crown of laurel leaves that he had decided to tempt Tennant's annoyance by plucking out several of the fake leaves from it.

He couldn't help a bit of a stupid grin; with the laurels, he couldn't help but hear Desdemona's voice in his head, touting about some Greek god, Mana!, although probably a pretty doofy looking one.

"Isn't that the whole idea? Besides, I wasn't sure or not if Bassianus was much of a soldier; it doesn't seem to mention anything. The laurel works. Greek, I know, but I can't get rid of that, and it symbolizes, you know, Apollo's hunt of Daphne, like Bassianus is pursuing Lavinia, but, since, clearly, he doesn't succeed, that's why it's broken, you know? And purple's a royal color, isn't it? There you go."

Cal's nod almost threatened to dislodge of his laurels.

Mr. Tennant didn't have a bed?

Blinking back her surprise, she said, "I don't know about anyone else, but I know I would like to do more than one show."

Michael settled on the stage, managing to get the long coat spread out around him, and put his sword down next to him.

...it didn't look so much like plastic now.

Off stage, Amber was still wearing the cloak, but she was also wondering how she could get her hands on a gown that might work as well. Something tight, low-cut, and black.

If she was to play a goth queen, she needed to look the part. Maybe she should go by Pixie Dust if she couldn't find anything here.
