There were just a few last minute tweakings to be done on the boots and they were ready for a test run.
He had Dummie ready with a fire extinguisher in case anything went wrong, but he doubted it was need to be used. This shouldn't be too hard, right?

He glanced up for a moment, seeing him but not really noticing. Just give him a moment or two as he fiddled with the boots once more before starting to put them on.
And then realized someone was there. "Oh, right." What was his name? "Steve."
