Wellspring Arms & Meditation Center, Thursday Morning

Although the Open sign was on the door, Cable wasn't particularly preoccupied with anything directly shop-related. Throughout the morning, he was checking weather reports, going over the Human Development Index numbers, double-checking some human rights materials with Irene, and, finally, loading up a gun or two.

Just in case. He wasn't planning to use it. When noon approached, he tacked a note reading On vacation in Madagascar. Back by Monday. If you need me, call my cell number. on the door leading to his apartment, and left.

He was pretty sure there was only one person on Fandom proper who even had his number, which suited him relatively fine at the moment. He had work to do.

... And a 'vacation' to go on.

There may have been a very light tapping at his business door.
Just a Burton, nothing more.

Just...very lizardly.

Halfway into deciding whether the really big gun could be warranted, or if he should just settle for regular big gun (and holding the former), Cable... thought he heard something.

He wandered up to the door, pushed it open, and found... a lizard. "Student?"

Jack nodded. Maybe this guy could help. Say, with a gun? Or a wee laser? Head-mounted, like in that movie?

That nod was all he needed. "No," Cable said, and shut the door.

Well. That went swell.

Ino still wasn't sure how she'd managed to lose a card, but she had, and that was annoying enough that she wandered down before her classes started to see if it was at work.

"'Morning, Cable-san!"

"Morning, Ino," he replied, back to the door as he put the next set of supplies-- water, mostly-- into his backpack.

Tether came rushing to meet her, wagging his tail with measured joy.

Ino kneeled down, going to hug Tether, then pet him. "You being a good boy?" she asked the puppy. "I bet you are."

"What're you doing?" A beat. "Have you seen a King of Diamonds anywhere 'round here?"

"Desk, upper right."

He had most of the basics. It'd be enough to sustain him for some time if he needed it... Cable added an extra bag of protein bars. "I'm taking a vacation."

"To the desk, Tether! Come on," Ino said, heading for the desk, and her card.

She blinked at Cable-san though. "...a vacation..?"

"I hear they're all the rage," he deadpanned, turning to watch Tether skitter quietly across the floor, towards the desk. "Would you mind taking care of the dog...?"

Ino pretended to think about that, as she retrieved her card and stuck it in a pocket. "What do you think, Tether? Think you can stand me for a few..." she glanced questioningly at Cable-san, "...days?"

"I'll be back by Monday." Ish. If everything went as planned.

Tether somewhat enthusiastically stuck his nose in Ino's nearest available bodypart.

Ino giggled, reaching down to shoo Tether away from her knees. "That's a yes then, sweetie?"

She glanced up at him. "I'll take care of him," she said. "Though I'm still not seeing you as the vacationing type so much Cable-san."

"I'm a lot of things," he replied, by ways of an answer. "The vacationing type is one of them."

One might have gotten a different answer if one had asked, say, Irene about this.

...Ino eyed him even more dubiously after that answer.

At least he'd told her he was going? Which, she guessed, meant it couldn't be that bad.

Right?

"Does this mean I get pictures?"

"Sure."

He closed up the backpack, shooting a look at one of the gun cases. Which one...?

"Okay," Ino said, wrinkling her nose cheerfully, "but you know I'll insist, right?"

"Of course."

"Pictures," Ino said, nodding. "Or I sic Deadpool-san on you." Which was a low low thing to do.

"Did you want me to take Tether now, or grab him after classes?" She had keys after all, it was easily doable.

Blackmail. Just what he needed. "Make sure to let him know he owes me a beer." Leaving the bag on the desk, Cable stalked towards the gun case his eye had fallen on. "You can pick Tether up after classes."

Ino was a good employee like that. Blackmail ruled.

"I will," she promised, reaching to pet Tether for a moment before, grinning and heading for the door. "I'll see you later, Cable-san!"

Worf entered the store and nodded at Cable.

"Meditation room?"

He knew it was available. Just being polite as always.

"Go ahead," Cable nodded back, "Morning, Worf."

"Good morning," Worf replied. "No child today?"

"She's been relocated." Might want to get her some change of address cards...

Which would be patently pointless.

Worf once again took advantage of the meditation room as he went through the series of the mok'bara.

Only accessible with permission, and while Cable's present.
