Book Haven: Thursday 10-5PM [6-26-08]
Millie was rather cheerful after having spent the better part of the week resting up from the weekend. Magically moving all those people all that distance had taken a huge amount out of her. She'd gone home Sunday and collapsed until her clinic shift on Monday, then returned home and slept for the better part of the next two days.
She set out treats for the customers and curled up in a comfy chair to read.

"Hey beautiful," he smiled, coming up to her. "How you've been? I heard about..." an arm wave, "you know. The weekend."

Yeah, Millie didn't exactly come from a time where self-esteem was valued - especially not in women.
"It is quite flattering that you find me beautiful, but would it not be a sad thing if I had to believe I was those things to be content with my life?"

"Perhaps you mean that I seem special to you, which is very kind of you, but honestly, I am quite content just as I am. I do not need to believe those things are true to be happy. Why is it so important to you that I believe these things?"

He looked away and stared at the floor, fingers intertwining around themselves. "You're right about me too. I don't always see what others do. Quite literally at times. That's part of the package of bein' crazy. I know I don't make any sense and..." he closed his eyes for a moment, "I can't change that either. I wish I could."

"Though," she said, more seriously. "If it bothers you so that I do not see things the way you do, I can understand if you would choose not to visit again."

Which was dashed with her next words. He obviously couldn't see what she did and apparently he needed to leave well enough alone. "I...understand." A small, sad smile crossed his face. "I'll do as you ask." He quickly stood up, leaned over her and gave her a quick peck on the check. "Good-bye, Millie." He strode quickly out, not giving her a chance to say anything further.
