Caritas - Friday evening [6/27]

After getting a voicemail, Jolee broke out his employment sign:

[OOC: Time for an employee search! Does your character need a job? Are they good around booze and/or people? Can you put up a post every Monday?

I'd prefer an adult character, possibly even a freshly apped one (don't forget, townie apps are always open), but I'll go with a student if necessary. Either let me know OOCly or ICly if you're interested.]

Charlotte came in as she did rather like to on Friday, only, this time, she wasn't alone, carrying a small rabbit with her, whom she settled on the counter before settling herself onto a stool and she gave Jolee a smile. "Did you see what was going on in the park?" she asked, clearly amused by what she'd glimpsed on the way over. "I would have stayed, but I was afraid Dale here might get lost in the fray a little..."

This warranted a small, apologetic look toward the rabbit. "Not that I think you'd normally get lost, dear, it's just you know you're perspective is a little...different than what you're used to right now, and those were a lot of lemurs."

"No, I didn't," Jolee said. "Wait, Dale? Isn't he the officer who comes in here sometimes?"

Charlotte drew in a bit of a breath before nodding. "Yup, that's him. He's been struck with a bit of the..." She lowered her voice, as always, "Fandom weirdness. I'm starting to get a little worried, as it's been just a bit over a week, but if he isn't better by the end of the weekend, I might take him in to make sure it's not permanent. That would be my luck, though, wouldn't it?"

Not that Charlotte sounded a bit bitter about that perspective. Bitter, and slightly pouty.

"Would you take him to a regular doctor or to a veterinarian?" Jolee asked.

It needed to be asked.

"I didn't think there was a vet on the island," Charlotte admitted, looking a little distressed. "I checked..."

"In a pinch, I could probably give him a check-up," Jolee said. "I'm not terribly familiar with Earth animals, but I wasn't familiar with Wookiee biology either the first time I healed one of them."

"If you ever meet a Wookiee, never check under his fur. Trust me on that."

The rabbit on the counter seemed to shift a little to express a bit of uncertainty with this possible option and Charlotte sighed a little. "Well, hopefully," she said, trying to sound optimistic, but, sometimes, it was difficult even for her, in certain situations, "that won't be necessary as he'll be feeling back to his old self soon. Either way, if we could maybe get a Cosmo for myself and a small dish of coffee for Dale, of course, I'd appreciate that a lot, Jolee."

"Do those animals even drink coffee?" Jolee asked as he filled the dish.

Tino had started on the Cosmo as soon as Charlotte walked in, so that was ready quickly.

*giggles*

It's been in my head ALL. DAY.

Charlotte gave Tino a small smile for his considerate and quite preparation of her drink, and then shook her head lightly at Jolee. "With Dale, I really don't think it matters. He drank coffee without a problem as a pony, too."

She eyed the rabbit for a moment before leaning forward to whisper to Jolee, "It's really quite an addiction."

I was whistling that ALL DAY. I'm amazed my coworkers didn't kill me.

"That can't be healthy for him when he's an animal," Jolee said. He put the dish on the bar anyway. "But it's his body. In a way."

"He knows the rules," Charlotte said sternly as Dale hopped over to enjoy his coffee. "If he gets sick and get bunny puke...or worse...on my carpet, then he loses his coffee privileges."

They still might! Lock your doors and windows!

Personally, I just love it for the mention of Taft slash....

"Did you have that rule before he turned into a rabbit?" Jolee asked. "If so, that would be amazing foresight."

"Noooo," Charlotte admitted, her expression twisting a little at the thought of actual Dale getting sick enough off coffee to throw up. "Ick. No, I trust that he well enough knows his limitations in the body he's used to, and, besides, as himself, he doesn't need me to get his coffee, as he's more than a few inches tall and has opposable thumbs. Although, really, if you've ever seen how much the man drinks, it's really shocking that he doesn't get sick more often."

I'm kind of disappointed that a search for "taft slash fiction" only brings up a bunch of references to that comic and other stuff that is boring.

You realize, now, that I have a new goal. I do have the weekend off....HMMM. *taps chin*

"Well, I was thinking of the rule about bunny puke specifically," Jolee said, briefly mourning his joke. "But I'll take your word for how much he drinks. That's why I'm glad we have a place on the island just for that kind of stuff. That way if he does get sick, it won't be here."

There's a search field right there in my browser! I don't understand how other people don't google random stuff they see referenced on the internet more often.

This is probably why I don't have much of a social life.

"Because I'm sure," Charlotte pointed out, "that an establishment serving alcohol to inexperienced minors never has to deal with things like that."

"If they try to vomit while I'm around, they're going to wear it," Jolee said. "That's the risk they run."

"That sounds fair enough."

If kind of gross, but it wasn't like Charlotte ever planned to get to that state.
