Town Hall, Wednesday

D'Argo had made it to town hall after his secretary insisted things had to be done. And now that he was here, he was shivering and thinking he wasn't leaving till they moved again.

Frelling cold. Bring back Africa.

Joanna barged into D'Argo's office. She didn't bother knocking.

Joanna ignored his comment. She also couldn't bring herself to look at the thing dangling off his face, so she kept firm eye contact. "I demand that you move this island somewhere with a suitable climate," she said. "I have men standing on the deck of my yacht with poles, pushing the ice chunks away to keep them from denting the hull. And," more importantly, "the bulk of my winter wardrobe is in storage at my country home in France."

There was much rolling of the eyes. "As if this island could possible provide me anything close to adequate options for an entire new wardrobe."

She placed her hands on the desk and leaned forward, her cleavage very much in his line of sight. "Tell me, Mayor, what exactly do you do? I pay an obscene amount in taxes, and if I think the island needs to be moved, I think you need to figure out a way to make it happen."

She actually had no clue if she paid taxes or not. It just seemed the thing to say to a politician.

Joanna straightened back and crossed her arms. "So typical," she said. "I'll never understand why pea-brained men have to resort to such base speech. I guess it's to be expected."

She sighed. "What if I was to slip you half a million dollars? Could you move the island then?"

She expected as much. "I can't say I'm surprised. You don't strike me as someone who can get things done."

Her time was precious, so she turned to leave. Andrew was supposed to do her toes today.
