The Ruins of the Former Echolls Mansion, Monday 7/7, All Day

"For anybody who wasn't here when this went down--" Xander, clad in a certain white and blue hardhat that might be familiar to some, jerked his thumb towards the partially-demolished building, speaking loudly over the noise of a drainage pump that was patiently sucking the mucky, muddy water out of what used to be a pretty kickass swimming pool. "That's what happens when you don't have clearly posted safety signage during an invasion."

Oh look, he brought an extra No Rampaging sign. And a post-hole digger.

"It's also what happens when you do have clearly-posted signage," he admitted. "But at least this way you've got a better case if you try to sue the monsters for damages. And this--" He waved his arms at the construction site in general. "--is what happens when we finally run out of room at the MCA and have to get off our butts and build a second apartment building. First law of re-building, though - before you get to the fun stuff, you have to clear away the crap. ...Second law is don't juggle the power tools."

Ah, safety lectures. Just like riding a bicycle. Through a construction site. Without proper headgear. Which you shouldn't do.

[Open like the muddy concrete pit that used to be Logan Echolls' swimming pool! Grad project, but he wouldn't turn down help from anyone inclined to give it.]

construction bins to clear it into. Amazing what you can get delivered through that portal back to Alexandria.

If you guessed that there are also gloves and hardhats, you get a cookie!

Turtle, trying to get good use out of her morning before her workshop, couldn't agree more with everything that Xander had to say about proper signage. She was...less than agreeable about the clearing away work that it lead to. Still, she kept her grumbles down and her expression to a dull displeasure as she helped.

For the good of the community, she kept telling herself. Community was important.

Seely pulled his gloves on, eyeing the rubble with distaste.

Bridge dons a hardhat and gloves and gets to work with the clearing out of rubble with the sort of single-minded determination that comes of trying not to ~~mope~~ think too much about certain BFFs having left.

Z donned a hard hat and gloves, and then she and five other Zs got to work clearing rubble. Let's hear it for teamwork!

Xander brought cookies!

Oh, like you didn't see that coming.

If you thought you'd run out of debris in one morning, you have apparently missed every Fandom invasion ever.

Bridge is still here, still with the clearing-out of debris.

Though it's probably a little cool for shirtlessness. Also, a little mucky. Though that makes accidental mud-wrestling a possibility.

Who maybe missed the hardhat a little too much, since he keeps reaching up to touch the bill and grinning every so often. Or maybe he just misses Mel trying to steal it.

Okay, the grin and the hardhat-touching is seriously ~~adorable~~ ~~hot~~ adorable, which means that *Bridge* can't help but grin when he sees it, all moping aside.

"What?"

"Nothing,"

"Uh-huh. Nothing what?" Xander touches his hat absently.

"It's not going to fly away, you know," Bridge says innocently.

Xander screws up his face, trying to guess what Bridge is talking about. "...the island?"

"Well, that too," Bridge says. "Maybe. Unless it's secretly the Animarium or something."

"Who whatting with the how now?"

"You never heard that story when you were a kid?"

"Does it involve two little kids that eat somebody's house? Because wow, did that one get mutated somewhere along the line."

"Um, no?" Bridge says. "Just, you know, a flying island where a princess lived?" That, of course, turned out to actually be real and not just a story.

"Nope, can't say I know that one. If nobody gets eaten by wolves or bears or lops off body parts to fit in a shoe, it doesn't seem to be too popular in my timeline."

"Well the reason it became a flying island was to escape the evil Orgs that were trying to destroy it?" Bridge tries.

"Orgs."

"Big evil-mutant-y creatures. Very fond of pollution. Tried to take over the world a couple times..."

"So this island just starts moving around to avoid getting attacked? Sounds a little far-fetched..."

"Well, no, of course not," Bridge says. "They did a spell to turn the valley into a flying island to save the princess."

"Oh of course not." Xander nods. "What was I thinking?"

"Something ridiculous," Bridge says with a nod.

"I usually am." Xander adjusts his hat again. "So I'm supposed to not worry because Fandom's not gonna fly away to save the princess? Do I have that right?"

"...Not exactly," Bridge says. "I meant more like you don't need to worry, 'cause your *hat* isn't gonna fly away on you. To save any princesses or otherwise."

Xander pulls his hat off and studies it carefully. "Was I supposed to be worried about that? Is there like, this whole hat...princess... thing I didn't know about?"

"No?" Bridge says. "But you kept..." he reaches up and touches his own hat. "Like you were afraid it'd disappear or something."

"Oh." Pause for more hat-studying. "Like that couldn't happen around here?"

"Point," Bridge says. "Also, I have to admit... it's really kind of cute."

"That I've been touching my hat?" Xander asks, amused.

"And being all smile-y when you do," Bridge clarifies. "I'm a fan of Xander-smiles."

"You're a dork." Yes, he's living dangerously, considering he doesn't have any cupcakes on him. "You do that with your ring, you know."

"Really?" Bridge asks, because he honestly hadn't noticed.

"Really." Not that Xander had intended on pointing it out, since that might mean Bridge would stop doing it.

"Oh," Bridge ducks his head and gives a somewhat sheepish smile.

"That wasn't exactly a complaint."

Aaaaand now I crash again because blergh, sickie. Will surface to pick up pings in a bit!
