The York Gallery; Wednesday [ 07/09 ]

After what was relatively hopefully a rather successful first workshop, Charlotte left the school to return to the gallery, opening it a little late but in a very good mood. It seemed as though there was plenty of cheerfulness left over, since her kids all seemed hopefully sweet, and she was certain that they would have a great time.

There were also plenty of muffins left over. Muffins that she intended to try to push on anyone who might come in to see the exhibit today.

The York Gallery is open!

There are a wide variety of moddable muffins. As far as Charlotte is concerned, no one leaves the place without taking at least one.

Coming in to see about his job, Teddy paused. Muffins.

Free muffins.

Oh, like he wasn't going to be all over that.

"Miss York?" He asked, looking around and reaching for a muffin.

Hopefully, aliens like Teddy didn't have oversensitive hearing because, when Charlotte saw him coming in, she let out quite a bit of a pleasantly surprised squeal.

"Teddy! You're back!"

Unaware of an piercing tones in her observation, she calmed down to just a bright beam. "I thought you weren't going to be back until the end of the summer!"

Charlotte looked at Teddy with a grin for a moment before she let herself release the "Awwww!" that was building up inside of her over that. "That's so sweet." Teddy was every bit as adorable as she remembered, and she smiled at him again. "You did have a good trip, though, right? You didn't come back early because of any trouble or anything like that?"

"Oh! No, no. I had fun with the monks and all, but..." Tony gave her a look to try and show just how boring it was. "I think my sister can handle them without me."

Charlotte chuckle a little, completely understanding that look, and she gave a small nod. "Well, that's good. Glad to be back then, I take it?"

"The c--Oh!" Charlotte stopped herself with a laugh, shaking her head with a hand pressed to her forehead. "Right. Antarctica. It's actually not as cold as I thought it would be, and, really, I hate to say it, but I've gotten so used to the island moving thing that I've practically forgotten all about it!"

Although she let out a heavy, exasperated sort of smile, Charlotte's smile still remained as she shook her head. "I suppose you were right then. After a while, it gets kind of hard not to; there's just so much of it that you'd go crazy if you didn't. But I really think it was when I actually turned into a pony that I started to really grow accustomed to it."

Not at first, of course, but, in retrospect...

Angela was a little early for her shopping trip with Blair, and she'd only just realized there was a gallery in this town. No power on this earth could stop her going in.

This girl? Kid in a candy store look. Or, artist in a gallery. Either worked.

It was pretty hard not to notice that kind of enthusiasm, really. Happy to see it, Charlotte couldn't let herself go without at least talking to the girl, so she gave her a smile. "Hi, there. Interested in art, I take it?"

Angela grinned, and gestured to indicate-- "Little bit." Probably more like a lot bit.

"I can't believe I managed to miss this when I was looking around on Sunday," she said.

Aww, and they were open on Sundays, too. That got a small, fleeting pout out of Charlotte, but, hey, she was still here, and...

"Plus," she said brightly, giving the basket a subtle nudge forward on the desk, "today we have muffins! Please, have some; I made them myself this morning. And I'm Charlotte; I'm the owner of the gallery. It's always nice to have new faces come in and appreciate the works."

"Aw, thanks," Angela said pausing a moment before selecting a muffin. Eh, she was a bit beyond the 'candy from strangers' stage.
She wasn't sure if this was normal in the businesses around here, but it was definitely fun.

"I'm Angela," she added in return. "Student up at the school. As of a few days ago."

"Well, then," Charlotte's friendly smile stayed strong, "welcome to the island. Mobile as it is."

She felt particularly good in saying that, as she felt that she could probably consider herself quite the local by the point. Or at least almost, almost there.

"It's a...um...very interesting place to be."

"Of the Century," Charlotte added with a laugh of her own. She shook her head slightly. "Some of it still weirds me out, I'll admit, but, over all, the good weirdness tends to outweigh the bad weirdness, and the people here are so great anyway that it's entirely worth it."

"So far, it seems kind of amazing," Angela agreed. She was blocking out the parts about gremlins and becoming ponies. "I mean, how often do you get to look out your window and see icebergs, right?"

"Anywhere else," Charlotte agreed with a grin, "and that sort of thing would be cause for mass panic. Here, it seems to be just another Wednesday. You seem to have gotten to accepting it rather easy if you're new just this semester, Angela."

"I've come to the conclusion, that if it's there, I believe it," Angela said simply. "The giant blocks of ice are a bit difficult to dispute."
