Worf had opened the store to find a couple of "X's" marked on a couple of spots around the store. Curious about the matter Worf is currently scanning the spots with a tricorder in order to figure out what exactly seems to be the issue.

Hoshi had her Mondays free this term and decided to give the meditation thing another try. She walked in and looked carefully at the boy who was working there. "Excuse me," she said. "I don't mean to be rude, but are you a Klingot?"

"Klingon," Worf replied sharply and crossing his arms. "What do you wish to know?"

"A Klingon," Hoshi repeated, just to make sure that she got it. "I've heard of Klingons, and I've seen pictures of them in the Vulcan database, but I didn't know that there were any on Earth in this time period."

"I am not from this time period," Worf said looking at Hoshi suspiciously. He eyed her for a moment before demanding, "How do you know of the Vulcans?"

"Oh, I'm not from this time period either. I'm from the mid-22nd century. I used to have a Vulcan tutor at one point, until my mom decided that she hated aliens," said Hoshi. "Pretty much all I know about other worlds comes from the Vulcan database that they share with Earth, at least until we got out there to explore for ourselves."

"Mid-22nd...."

Worf's eyes lit up in concern. "Who are you? Have you had any contact with Klingons at this point?"

"My name's Hoshi Sato, and you're the first Klingot -- excuse me, Klingon -- that I've met," said Hoshi.

Worf considered this for a moment or two. "Your era is almost at the beginning of spae travel. Correct?"

"I guess so," said Hoshi. "I mean, humans have been exploring space for years. It's just that right now they're using Vulcan ships because ours don't go very fast yet."

"I am from the 24th century. Possibly from your future," Worf warned. "There is only so much I can tell you otherwise I would violate the temporal prime directive."

Hoshi's eyes widened. "Wow," she said. "There must be a lot of Klingons living on Earth in the future."

Worf hesitated for a moment. "No. There isn't. However a First contact situation between cultures could have disastrous consequences."

"Yeah, because you've got the potential for misunderstandings because no one speaks the same language," said Hoshi.

"That's what I want to do some day. I want to be a communications officer for Starfleet so that I get to be the first one who works with new alien languages."

"Very admirable," Worf commented, wondering just how much the timeline would be damaged by their interaction here and now.
