Toby wasn't Toby.

Happily, Toby didn't have to try hard not to think about what it meant metaphysically. He just knew he was some unfortunate Hispanic boy with really odd taste in clothes and thank the gods or spirits of Tresum he worked at Pixie Dust.

Toby spent the first hour of his shift ignoring everything that wasn't outfitting Marco's body and the rest of the time poking at his new face in the mirror.

It was a good thing he didn't know he could turn into animals at will.

He is so not going to be helpful, but he might ask your opinion on things.

Lee just happened to be in town and decided to stop in and say hey to Toby on his way.

He pushed open the door, saw...someone who wasn't Toby and waved. "Sorry for bothering you, guy."

Surprised to see Lee, Toby stopped poking Marco's face and hurried over. "Oh my god, make it go back! Have you seen Kevin? Does he know that kid is not me?"

"...what?" Lee asked, frowning. "Make what go back?"

"My face!" Toby shouted, hands pushing at Marco's skin. "Don't you see it?"

"Well...yeah, I see your skin," Lee said, "but I don't see anything wrong with it. It's just...skin."

"But it's not my skin!" Toby didn't understand why Lee wasn't getting this. He moved to grab his friend's arm. "Please, you've gotta help me!"

"I don't know what's wrong!" Lee exclaimed. "Your skin is fine! Why isn't it yours?"

"Lee, your girlfriend stole my body!" Maybe she was evil and Lee needed to be saved. He and Kevin could totally help with that.

"...I see a body in front of me," Lee said, still not getting it.

Toby's breath faltered as he sniffed, tears welling up in his eyes. "Don't you know me?"

"Um. Maybe." Lee squinted at him. "I...don't know you, no."

"But it's me...Toby!" The tears fell hot and wet on his cheeks.

"I'm sor--" He stopped. "Toby? You're Toby? What happened to you?! You don't look like you!"

"Your girlfriend happened!" Toby was not going to sob.

Okay, just not loudly.

"What do you mean she happened?" Lee asked. "She can't just switch bodies."

"She gave mine to whoever this is!" Toby said, sniffing. "What am I supposed to tell Kevin?"

"The truth?" Lee tried. "I mean, I'm sure it'll go back and you...did let her, right? She didn't tie you down?"

Lee had a point. Toby wiped his eyes with his shirt, thinking at least the blue shade made the skin he was trapped in shine nicely. "Promise?"

"I promise you, Toby," Lee said, trying to sound soothing. "Whose body do you have anyway?"

Toby was completely soothed. "Um...I don't know."

"Oh, Toby," Lee said, trying not to laugh.
